Stopped in at Water Prince Corner Shop in Charlottetown for lunch and it completely lived up to its local legend status. Local tourism folks said this was the best place in town for Lobster Rolls and I wasn’t disappointed. We tried both the lobster roll and the burger, and each one was outstanding in its own way.

The lobster roll was loaded with generous chunks of fresh, sweet Atlantic lobster, lightly dressed and served on a soft, toasted buttery roll — simple, coastal perfection. The side of creamy potato salad rounded it out beautifully. I appreciated the dollop of mayo on the side so you could create your own perfect balance and ratio for the roll.

The burger was just as impressive — juicy, flavorful, and topped with melted cheddar, grilled onions, fresh lettuce and tomato, served with hand-cut fries and a scoop of slaw. Every bite felt homemade and hearty.

This spot captures everything you love about PEI — fresh seafood, honest comfort food, and a relaxed maritime vibe. While it was the tail end of the season we enjoyed the crisp cool air outside. There was plenty of comfortable seating inside and out. Whether you’re craving the sea or a classic burger, Water Prince Corner Shop delivers every time.

I visited Water Prince Corner Shop about six years ago and still remember how fresh and well-priced the food was. I came back recently and nothing has changed in the best way. The consistency is still there, the quality of the food is top tier, and the prices are still really fair. This time around I got the lobster dinner with seafood chowder and a lobster roll on the side. The cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes the whole experience even better. Easily one of my favourite spots in PEI.

Great little restaurant near the waterfront. Has an extensive fish menu and some meat dishes. Excellent scallops! Also has an interesting selection of PEI beers.
Very friendly and attentive staff and our food was served quickly. Prices were reasonable. The key question: would I come back here? Definitely.

Best lobster roll I have found. Travelled all over the East Coast, and this one is the best! Alma Lobster Shop was very good too, but Water Price is now the gold standard.

Located by the water, the location is great for wandering around downtown. Medium size dining room, reservations for diner are recommended.

Service was ok, the food made up for the lack of engagement. Pictures on the wall attest to the popularity of the restaurant, as a number of high profile celebrities have dined here, adding to the atmosphere. As the saying goes, you gotta eat here!

There is also a packed for travel option for lobsters.

Wonderful service, great people here. If you come to town via cruise, try to come here first thing in the morning for seats as it gets busy after 11am. They have outside seating, as well as inside seats. It’s less than 10 minutes walk from the cruise port. It was one of the first recommended lobster roll places by the information center. We ordered 2 lobster rolls, a fried oyster appetizer (5pcs) and a local beer. Total was about $98 plus tip. Not cheap! The fried oyster was average. Nothing too memorable. I wouldn’t order it again. The lobster roll was good and you could order with fries, baked or mashed potatoes. This place also won the Shellfish Excellence Award back in 2023.

Reservation is taken for dinner if you’d like to reserve.

Nice little restaurant in Charlottetown, near the water front.

The food was very tasty, hot and fresh. All the seafood dishes we ordered were served with fresh seafood as we would expect being from the east coast.

The service was top notch, our waitress was kind, friendly and always attentive to our table.

Seating was a bit difficult as they accept reservations and indoor seating was all booked. We ended up sitting outside at a picnic table with some shade, it worked for us, even though it was fairly hot outside.

I would definitely recommend checking out this restaurant, which serves great food along with amazing service.

Everything was fine until I bit into pieces of shell and cartilage from the claws. I even accidentally swallowed one — and it was absolutely disgusting.

When I asked the staff about it, they said it can happen — and that there’s even a disclaimer about it on the menu. Well, that kind of thing can only happen if you’re cleaning a lobster while watching Netflix — and paying far more attention to Netflix.

As someone who works with seafood every day and has cleaned whole lobsters many times, I can say with full confidence — this is unacceptable.

What’s next? Are we going to say that shrimp may come with veins and fish may come with bones — and just stop caring about the prep? It’s a total shame for a restaurant that claims to specialize in seafood.
On top of that, the staff seemed completely clueless about their own menu. When I asked if they had anything steamed — since we try to avoid giving fried or heavily seasoned food to our kid — the waitress looked totally confused, couldn’t suggest anything, and just pointed at the kids’ section.
If this is the best lobster roll (as claimed in the menu), I don’t even want to try the others.
P.S. Lobster roll itself is definitely overrated

Food tasted amazing. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was cute and cozy. We got the lobster dinner, lobster roll and a bowl of chowder. The chowder is the best one we found in town! We have been trying to find a place that served a thick consistency chowder and kept being disappointed. 3rd times a charm, and it was delicious. Mussels were plump, simple and flavourful. Highly recommend!

We came here with high expectations, and this 35-year-old restaurant truly lived up to its reputation! Even when we arrived at 8 PM, there was still a wait — the place was packed and buzzing with activity. That alone said a lot.

We ordered a 2-pound Lobster Dinner and a Haddock Dinner, both dishes impressed us. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the sides were well-balanced and flavorful. Every bite was satisfying — truly worth the visit!

As a chef trained in both Chinese and French cuisine, I always appreciate dishes that highlight the natural flavor of ingredients. One taste of the Seafood Chowder, and I knew we had made the right choice. The chowder was rich, deeply flavorful, and full of ocean freshness. And some Steamed Mussels, which turned out to be another highlight of the meal. The mussels were incredibly fresh and flavorful — simple but absolutely delicious.

The service was equally exceptional. Since it got windy outside and we were seated on the patio, the server kindly brought us blankets and quickly arranged an indoor table for us. That kind of thoughtful attention really made the experience memorable. Thank you again for a wonderful evening — from food to service, everything was outstanding!
