Moving reviews over from Yelp. I’ve been to other Wasabi locations but never went back to this one after the disaster that was our experience when this was originally written in June 2010:

Rare are the times when I drop a hundred bucks on dinner for the family and we leave the place entirely pissed-off and dissatisfied. Unfortunately, that was exactly the case at this Wasabi location two days ago.

Why 2-stars then?

1. I ordered directly from the sushi chef and followed his instructions to tell the waitress that I had already ordered only to have her assume I “meant” to order something different and she delivered that instead of the chef’s selections of the best stuff he had that day.

2. We ordered appetizers, soups, salads, sushi, and entrees – all of which arrived at our table at the exact same time.

3. Some of what we ordered never arrived.

4. Three of the five orders were incorrectly prepared.

5. Some of the sushi just wasn’t that good.

I love sushi. I’ve eaten sushi all over the world. I’ve even eaten at other Wasabi locations in the St. Louis area and had far better experiences. This was a 1-star experience with 3-star food…hence the 2-star rating. Sorry, but I’ll stick to your Washington St. location in the future.

This is the second time we’ve ordered an item, paid an upcharge, driven to the restaurant, and then been told it’s out of stock and has to be made as the regular version. Staff will claim that they tried to reach you but it “didn’t go through”. It’s 2026, we have call logs.

There was no reimbursement for the upcharge. Stock information needs to be accurate and updated so situations like this don’t happen. Respect your customer’s time. Won’t be back.

Gas. Fire. And any other terms the kids nowadays use to describe an enjoyable experience. Seriously, the food is ALWAYS spot on. Whether you get a meal, or are just there for sushi, nothing on the menu disappoints. The service has never been bad, quite the opposite, in all the times I’ve been there. Cecilia S. is a ROCKSTAR!!!!!. I absolutely love Wasabi in Edwardsville, that’s why I keep going back.

This place has completely fallen apart. It used to be great—now it’s dead inside and clearly understaffed. Service was terrible: long wait, wrong food, barely any drink refills, and the cheesecake we ordered never even showed up. The waiter disappeared, and we finally had to walk up and pay just to get out of there. We didn’t tip because the experience was that bad.
With all the restaurant options in Edwardsville, there’s no excuse for this level of service. I came here for my daughter’s birthday, and honestly, it was a huge mistake.

We had a gift card here so we went instead of our normal sushi place. It ended up being better than expected. We loved the food, and our server Cecelia was great! She was attentive, sweet and overall made our Wednesday night very enjoyable:)

Had the best lunch at Wasabi. Their fish tastes very fresh and the rolls are so good. My server was very nice, wish I caught his name. This is the only place I go to for sushi in Edwardsville! Pictured is the playboy roll and crab Rangoon.

Went for the first time with my family, and we were not disappointed. Derek was an excellent server who was very patient with our questions, and very helpful with allergy information. Panko chicken was excellent, Philadelphia roll was great and the crab Rangoon was the best! Though I don’t recommend with shrimp allergies. Great experience. Thanks!
