Took my 90-year-old mother here for the first time, and I’m honestly shocked by the lack of basic human decency. My mother has serious mobility issues — standing and sitting are difficult. I simply asked if we could be seated while the third person in our party parked the car so she wouldn’t have to stand and struggle.

The manager refused, word-for-word: “We can’t let you take the seats until the other person is inside. That’s a policy we must follow” No compassion, no flexibility, not even a moment of understanding. Just a cold “policy” excuse while a 90-year-old woman waited uncomfortably.

I get that restaurants have rules. But if your policy can’t bend for elderly guests with mobility challenges, something is seriously wrong with your priorities. A business that claims to “make customers happy” should start with basic empathy.

Very disappointed. If you care about accessibility, respect, or just simple kindness — think twice before coming here.

Other than that, food is average, atmosphere is bad, room is too smoky and chokey without sufficient evacuation.

Dirty and dark, tables filthy, food so salty I did not eat my filet and scallop meal at all, went to McDonalds after I left there and had a better meal. The cook threw noodles on my plate over my rice and all over the table and some of the noodles went in our drinks, and he did nothing.
The food looked like mush on my plate… Not appetizing at all.The Filet was like eating salt, the meat cut so small the size of my doggies food bits. awful. How do they stay in business? We had 8 people and all thought salt was poured over our food, so salty. What too much MSG? Not to mention the smoke in the room bothered our sinuses very poor ventilation. sorry you asked A?

Bridal Celebration Fell Flat Thanks to a Rude, Unprofessional Manager

Our group had a reservation at Wasabi in Independence for a bridal party dinner (10 guests, under Azra’s Bridal Party). From the moment we walked in, the experience started off wrong — not because of the food or the server, but because of the manager’s attitude.

I had to greet the manager first, only to be told to wait until our whole party arrived — which would’ve been fine, but the tone was cold and dismissive. When the bride showed up (the last of our group), the manager immediately gave her attitude, sassily asking whether “the whole party was finally here” before allowing us to be seated. It was awkward and unnecessary.

After we sat down, things seemed to improve until the mother of the bride politely asked if we could add one seat for a relative whose plans had changed. The manager stormed over, loudly asking, “So what’s the problem?” — which confused everyone because there wasn’t one, just a question. When the situation was explained, she snapped that we’d have to get up, wait in the lobby again, and be reseated if we wanted to add a person. It was rude, embarrassing, and entirely avoidable.

To top it off, the “party room” we were told was unavailable was clearly sitting empty — cluttered with random items, not in use at all. When we mentioned the manager’s behavior to our waiter, he was kind and apologetic, but the manager never returned or offered any explanation.

This dinner was meant to be a joyful celebration, but instead we left feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. The food was decent, and our waiter did his best, but management set the tone for the entire evening — and it was not a good one. A little respect and professionalism would have gone a long way. We won’t be returning.

While I’ve been to wasabi in different cities numerous times this was my first time at this location. The food was good but the overall experience was not good at all. We came for my little cousin’s birthday dinner. I had my daughters, nephew & myself on myself. Everyone else at the table got hibachi with fried rice, I was the only person that ordered steak, scallops and shrimp with noodles. When the chef came out he was entertaining us as they normally do but as he was passing out the food he didn’t put anything on my plate. Everyone got veggies I asked him why he didn’t give me any he said what I ordered doesn’t come with veggies which is odd because all hibachi comes with vegetables. When he did the proteins he gave all my steak scallops and shrimp to my 6 year old & only gave me chicken NOTHING ELSE. So at that point I was extremely frustrated & asked for clarification. He then realized that he had all the orders mixed up & thought that the KIDS chicken hibachi was for me and the 3 protein adult meal was for my six year old….. that really annoyed me because why would a small child have that order. He didn’t offer an apology or anything. I spent over $150 between the three of us & I was treated literally like a child. Our waiter Leacy was nice but aside from her I’ll never come back to this location due to the lack of accountability and respect for customers.

Don’t do it! I tend to give 2nd, even 3rd chances. Today was the 3rd and final chance. After spending over $100 (including tax/tip) my order was royally screwed up. I ordered online for carry out. I specifically listed seafood allergy on one meal and peanut allergy on another. Welp those 2 meals had both chicken and shrimp in them (instead of just chicken). My child has a seafood allergy. Glad we inspected the food prior to eating it. Each time we order there has been a slight issue. But this time was too major to ignore. Will not be ordering again!

Carry out was terrible. Literally no flavor. No teriyaki sauce or anything. I got the vegetable habachi and it was literally just vegetables in water no seasoning. Never will order here AGAIN. Couldn’t even get a refund because I ordered through door dash. Didn’t want the food remade because the sound of the person when I called to complain sounded like my food might get spit in . Please steer clear of this location if you want ANY taste in your life.

I placed a pickup order here February 21st later in the night, i asked for the food to be seasoned well since last time i ordered my food was super bland and had no flavor Chicken was overcooked/dry, I paid $45 for food that one again was very rushed, no flavor , rice was mushy. I called in today February 22nd and I immediately asked to speak to a manager. Julian then acted as if she was the manager asked for the issue i explained this is my second time happening she was not apologetic at all, asked could i bring the food back which i told her i could. She then said oh well if any of the food was ate we can’t accept it back so there’s absolutely nothing we can do, I don’t understand how a person would know how food taste without tasting it…. I then asked her again was she the manager and she then said No which shocked me because I asks to speak to a a manager from the beginning of the conversation which explains why she was unable to properly communicate with my issues. A server should not discussing order issues with any customer over the phone. I am very annoyed that this is now my second time hating a horrible experience with a pickup order here and this one was one of my favorite restaurants. A waste of money and terrible experience with Juliann over the phone.

0/10 would not recommend if you are looking to order sushi. The chef was amazing & the server Aaron was also amazing and very understanding! This was my first experience here and the Crab house roll is false advertised. It is supposed to have & quoted “KING CRAB, BLUE CRAB, SPICY CRAB AVOCADO” but when come to arrival it was strictly imitation crab meat. The atmosphere is also pretty good but for false advertising a sushi roll for the price of 18$ when you are basically getting a jazzed up California roll is insane. The menus need to be updated to avoid further unsatisfying experiences. Thank you to Aaron for bringing the ice cream for my birthday!! He really lighten the mood & was super sweet!

Amazing sushi! So fresh, so good. They are a little pricey tho, but it’s super fresh so I think it’s worth it. I love the rainbow roll! It’s my favorite. Staff is nice as well, and everything is clean.
