Warung RieRie is not simply a place to eat—it is a deeply personal and unforgettable experience. This one-table restaurant, set within a traditional Indonesian wood and bamboo structure, feels intimate, intentional, and rooted in tradition. From the moment you arrive, it is clear that this is not a typical meal, but a thoughtfully curated journey.

What makes the experience truly exceptional is the food itself. Many of the ingredients are grown right in their own yard and handpicked, lending an unmistakable freshness and authenticity to every dish. The flavors are bold yet beautifully balanced, showcasing true Indonesian cuisine with care and precision. Each plate is artfully presented, reflecting an extraordinary eye for detail without ever feeling overdone.

The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making you feel less like a guest and more like someone invited into a private home. With only one table, the entire evening unfolds at a relaxed, unhurried pace that allows you to fully appreciate the craftsmanship behind each course.

Warung Rie Rie is a rare gem—where homegrown ingredients, traditional surroundings, and heartfelt hospitality come together seamlessly. It is more than dinner; it is an experience rooted in authenticity, connection, and care, and one that lingers long after the evening ends.

Sooo excited we got to finally eat here after trying since April 2022. It was a unique experience to have an elevated homecook meal in such an intimate setting (their backyard!). We felt like we were being hosted by some close friends with all the flowing conversations and welcoming vibes. The food was incredible. We LOVED the duck, bluefin, and oxtail soup but I want to give a special shout-out to the amazingly addictive roasted peanuts! Come here if you can!

One of our first “omakase” experience. Such an amazing take to authentic Indonesian food. We love their story and the atmosphere they’re trying to bring to our community. I love going into a restaurant and feeling like I’m visiting a family member’s house with an Aunty who just wants to feed me good food. We got just that! It was more than I imagined it to be. My husband also enjoyed his birthday dinner and we cannot wait to go back and on a different season so we can try a new menu. Thank you Rie and Dave for everything!

Chef Rie and Dave’s genuine enthusiasm and sheer joy in sharing Indonesian food and culture has created a unique dining experience. The 7 pm dinner is a mix of a mini-tour, storytelling, a six-course meal, and simply hanging out with the owners after the meal is done. They are happy to share their story of the creation and sudden fame of Warung Rie Rie and it’s unique to have a fine dining experience in their literal backyard.

This was our second dining experience at Warung Rie Rie and it was just as great as our first. We were there to celebrate our daughter’s 21st birthday and she loved every minute of the experience. We also had some guests with dietary restrictions and it was easy coordinating that with Chef Rie before the meal.

We’re going back when we can! Thank you Dave and Rie for creating this experience, you are the real deal!

Where do I even begin! This was a one of a kind dining experience like nothing else. Flavors were firing on all cylinders over this 6 course culinary journey. Admittedly, I’m not much of a vegetable guy, but this is the first time in my life I’ve ever had a vegetable dish that I still can’t stop thinking about. And it was a soup. Insane. Every course was spectacular but the duck in the main course was next level. Cooked perfect and so tender it just falls of the bone at the stroke of your fork. No knife needed! To top off the amazing food, it couldn’t be ran by better people. Just lovely. Everything grown in house too! Can’t wait to go back. This dinner will be on my mind for a while!

Got on the cancellation list as they are booked out for quite a while. And let me tell you, the hype is justified. This was one of the most unforgettable and incredible dining experiences I’ve ever had. Food cook with a lot of love by amazing people. Chef Rei is a gem and her vibrant personality shines through big in her food. Incredible flavors. Every course was explosive! And her husband Dave is an incredible host who really lights up the experience. Can’t wait until my next visit. If you are interested get on the list now! Run don’t walk!

Spectacular experience meeting a lovely and talented couple who host small dinners in Indonesian style. Reservations are challenging but keep trying and your party of 6 can learn and taste the spirit of Indonesia.

We had a seafood 6 course menu (menus change monthly) what was a tasty party. Dining is by a fire pit or in the Warung (rice house which was dismantled, transported and reassembled).

Great experience. We learned a lot about the customs and cuisine of Indonesia as well as how one goes about opening and operating a cottage business.

My fiancé, mom and I had an amazing dinner at Warung Rie Rie. The food was delicious, and they were able to accommodate my mom’s food sensitivities. Chef Rie and her husband are delightful. It was such a unique experience. Everything was excellent. We will definitely be back!

Wow what a unique and intimate experience. The food was great but the hosts and location is what sets it apart. The hosts were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about Indonesia. At the “hut” we dined in made it feel like we were actually on a tropical island.

This one is tough.

On one hand I want to keep this the best kept secret in San Diego, on the other Dave and Rie deserve all the praise and recognition possible.

It’s one of those experiences that while you’re experiencing it you’re already looking forward to repeating it.

I’m truly thankful and I appreciate all the effort this wonderful couple puts in day in and day out for their guests.
