The customer service was welcoming! This is in NO WAY southern food.
They do not have Chitterling, they are Hog Maws (I want my money back)
Pork chop was not seasoned well
BBQ taste like it was boiled and then just put sauce on it.

My first visit at Wards. I ordered the fish and wings meal. It came with two side and I chose the Mac and cheese and collard greens. I also ordered chitterlings. The fish and wings were delicious but the greens were pretty bland. Mac and cheese were ok. The chitterlings were not good at all. I actually had to throw them away. I will say cooking them with apple cider vinegar could’ve helped I didn’t taste a bit of it, just the chittering and its water. The seating is very limited maybe about 6 table. Also for your drink option it’s either a can soda or bottle. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would definitely recommend for take out and I do plan to revisit.

I wish I could have taken a picture of my meal.. but …. It was so good I couldn’t stop eating long enough. I had the pork chop dinner with greens and potatoe salad. Oh my goodness… What a treat! It was so good. 10/10. I can’t wait to come back.

My experience was an overall disappointment. The food didn’t taste good like it used to when Mr.Ward ran it. Turkey wings had no flavor. The meat tasted bad and dry.The yams tasted like they only put (cinnamon) on it. The Mac n cheese needed sharp cheese or something. It just didn’t taste good! The rice had 0 flavor. I actually got mad. This place used to have good food. Maybe a different cook was in the kitchen. I wasted my time and money. Just nast and tee. I ended up making a sandwich smh.

This was my very first time trying Ward’s, and let me just say — I was absolutely delighted! I reached out to several restaurants in the Hampton area to get pricing for a catering order for my HU homecoming, and even though I’m not local, something about Ward’s stood out to me right away. After speaking with Keisha (hope I’m spelling that right!) a few times, I decided to go with them — and I couldn’t be happier that I did.
From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The customer service was warm and attentive, the food was absolutely delicious, the pricing was fair, and that touch of genuine Southern hospitality truly made the experience unforgettable. Every single person who tasted the food gave it five stars across the board!
If you’re in the Hampton Roads area and looking for incredible soul food served with kindness and care — without any of the pretense — Ward’s is the place to go. I’m already looking forward to ordering again for next year’s homecoming tailgate!

All I wanna know is…who made the potato salad? . Fantastic. Whole thing. From top. To. Bottom. The atmosphere was welcoming. The wait time was short. The food. Seasoned to perfection. We got two plates and the portions were perfect. I got the wings with collards and rice and gravy and then we got turkey wings potato salad and cabbage. Everything was amazing. But them collards and potato salad? Best side items up there in my opinion. None of it was overly expensive either.

The restaurant is clean and decorated. The hostess is personable and very professional.

It was about $18 and the portions are hefty. There’s enough for at least 2-3 plates. So, totally worth the price.

Listen, I’ve lived in Hampton almost 2 years and I have searched for somewhere to get some good soul food from. Well, my search is over. I visited here today (5/30/24). I ordered the Whiting fish dinner with Yams and Cabbage and it came with a roll. I also ordered a side of Mac and Cheese, Potato Salad and ordered a piece of Sweet Potato Pie. My total was about $23.00 (well worth it). Mannnn I ate the pie first. It was amazing. My food was hot and seasoned well. I am a “yams person” and they were made just right. The lady at the front was nice and the place was very clean. When I seen all the Grammas coming out, I had to go in and I’m glad I did. I will definitely be back. Thank you!

When our group of six stopped in a couple of weeks ago, we had a mix of busybody kids and a few adults who can be pretty particular about food and service. The team went above and beyond — they rearranged tables for us, gave them a fresh wipe-down, and even came to the table to take our order (which I don’t think is their usual process since everyone else ordered at the counter).
The food was fresh and came out quickly — we enjoyed everything: chicken wings, pork chops, turkey wings, and sweet potato pie. Even when we were a little indecisive about sides and made last-minute changes, they stayed patient and accommodating.
In a time when great customer service is rare, their kindness and professionalism reminded me of the days when customer care really mattered and could make or break a business. Their service was truly appreciated — we’ll definitely be back!
