was crisp and well-balanced, the duck confit croquettes were rich, crispy, and full of flavor, and the tuna steak was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. You can really tell there’s care and creativity going into the
kitchen here.
The atmosphere is beautiful and unique, and it feels like a great spot for both special occasions and a nicer night out. From start to finish, the experience felt elevated and enjoyable.
The only downside came at the very end when our server was splitting checks for our group. Despite us explaining multiple times who had what, items kept getting mixed up, which made the checkout process a bit longer and more frustrating than it needed to be. It didn’t ruin the night, but it was a noticeable hiccup in an otherwise smooth evening.
That said, the quality of the food and overall experience far outweighed that smallissue. I would absolutely come back and recommend this place to anyone looking for great food in a unique setting.
The ambiance alone is breathtaking! It’s one of those places you almost have to pause to take in before settling into the evening. Even with a full house on a Thursday night, we were seated quickly with our reservation, which was a pleasant surprise.
What really stood out was the personal touch. After dinner, we had the chance to speak with one of the owners, who was so kind and genuine.. the kind of hospitality that makes you want to return again and again.
Whether it’s a special occasion or just an elevated night out, this is a must-visit spot in KC. We left already planning our next visit!
The restaurant describes the Royal Tea as a classic English afternoon tea featuring a variety of sweet and savory delights, accompanied by a choice of premium tea or coffee. This description was largely accurate – the atmosphere and historic architecture were truly charming, enhanced by elegant holiday decorations. The food itself was excellent: the sweet and savory items were high quality, beautifully presented, and perfectly portioned for our group of four.
The tea service began promisingly with individual teapots, high-quality tea sachets, and a nice selection of sweeteners, honey, and lemon. Milk was provided in place of half-and-half or creamer.
However, the experience was hindered by the need for frequent hot water refills due to the small size of the teapots (slightly larger than a single cup). Each refill required flagging down our server, who was managing multiple tables, and then waiting for the water to be delivered and for the tea to steep again (3–5 minutes). Unfortunately, these requests were sometimes delayed or overlooked.
Additionally, we were advised to reuse the same tea sachet for multiple pots. While this might work well with larger teapots, the small pots and repeated reuse noticeably weakened the flavor and strength after the first infusion, which diminished the overall tea experience for those of us hoping to enjoy several quality cups.
In summary, the Royal Tea is a lovely option for guests planning to enjoy one or two cups of tea, perhaps supplemented by additional beverages from the menu. For those seeking a traditional afternoon tea centered on unlimited, high-quality hot tea, it may fall short of expectations.
That said, the outstanding ambiance, architecture, and food quality make this a special venue. I look forward to returning to try the dinner service in the future.
Thank you to the team for a mostly delightful afternoon!
I can’t wait to come back for brunch and sit on the patio!
From the time you walk in to the time you walk out ,you are treated as a lord and a lady.
The Owners have taken the time to turn an old castle into a fine dining experience.
Michael was my server and he was great. Very attentive without hovering. Very informative of the menu. All his suggestions were on point.
I started with the steak wedge, the fresh ground pepper is a must, the fuchsia bread is baked fresh daily. Soft and easy to tear, not over done.
Following the salad and bread ,came the main course; grilled tuna with fresh roasted vegetables and potatoes. The tuna was slightly pink in the middle and very flaky and flavorful
(not over cooked/dried out)
After dinner espresso really made the experience complete.
Wether you are wanting a date night for two, a brunch or a company event. This would be the place.
The ambience is amazing. The staff is amazing. The food is amazing.
10 out of 10 would highly recommend
