Not sure how to rate this place because in my opinion it has high highs and low lows. Would be great if you were going under the right circumstances (a group of friends out for drinks).

The food is really good. The fish and chips are phenomenal and the tartar is my favorite at any restaurant that I’ve tried. It tastes kind of eggy in a way that really works. The cheese curds have a perfect texture. Just very soft and pillowy. My only complaint food wise is that my partners burger was undercooked (he wanted it well done)

My partner and I went for a date night expecting full service and it wasn’t that. I ate there many years ago and remember liking it a lot, and it was full service so I’m not sure when that changed. You literally seat yourself, order at the counter, and go pick up your food at the kitchen window. We weren’t even drinking alcohol so we had to get our own drinks and refills as well. I tipped 20% but I’m not really sure why? Like honestly it’s not any more service than we would have gotten ordering at McDonald’s. Less service actually because McDonald’s would bring it to our table at least. I wouldn’t come here for dinner again because of this but would try it again under a different circumstance. The prices do not reflect self service.

I had high hopes because this place has such a cool name. The food and atmosphere were just okay. Food and atmosphere were pretty typical for a bar. However, it was affordable, so I give them that.

The 2 people behind the bar are delightful, i didnt know you had to pick up ur own food and clear off your own table before i added the tip. Also we got wings, fish and chips and 2 kid pizzas. The kids like their pizza, my wings were burnt and the fish and chips was full of oil.

New to the area and still looking for a local wing spot for football Sundays. Got takeout to bring home and watch the game. We both got grilled wings, I got buffalo and my SO got hot honey. Also got a side of Mac and cheese to split.

Pros:
– wings tasted freshly grilled
– Buffalo was nice and saucy
– Wings had a good amount of meat on them (and you could select all drums or all flats if you want)
– ordered online and food was ready quickly but still hot

Cons:
– Wings were way over-charred, and I normally like char
– Hot honey could have been saucier
– The Mac and cheese was $11 for a small/individual size; it was overcooked and under seasoned

Overall, I think we’ll go back for takeout wings. Hoping for a better second experience.

They have no wait staff. You order at the bar and take a pager to your table , which you pick up your food yourself. The lady who took our order praised my choice of ordering a bovarian pretzel, but never rang it up. When we took our pager to the kitchen window to get our food and the pretzel was missing we let the kitchen staff know. The woman who rang us up said she’d go find our receipt, which we never got a copy of. I didn’t stress about no receipt because I like to save paper anyway and I’ve never had issues. She said she’d have to ring up the pretzel and charge us for it after the kitchen made it. I said absolutely not. I’m not paying for her mistake. I’ve never seen a restaurant not own their faults. She yelled at me when I said I wouldn’t pay for the pretzel with, “well, your didn’t tip either!” We get our own drinks at the self service fountain machine And wait for our own food and go get it ourselves and there are instructions to clean your own table of trays and dishes. Like what the hell am I tipping for? We paid $53 for a brisket platter thar was super small in portion and fish and chips with a side of onion pettels. Food was okay. Nothing spectacular. But the service is terrible. If you are going to eliminate that much staff then the remaining staff needs to a lot more competent and friendly when the customer is basically doing the extra work themselves. We will not be back.

Even on a Thursday night, this place was hopping. Not too busy as there were tables in and outside.

If you want beer and/or food, head to the bar first. You can close out or start a tab at this point too. You can check out the food selection using a QR code or from the available menu . The staff is wonderful and easy going from the bar to the kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen, you will also pick up your own order from them. Once the saucer lights and buzzes, head over. They have you plasticware and some condiments. Your table will have the normal condiments and a roll of paper towels.

I got the Griffin Burger w/fries and an Irish Griffin ( and a second one later). The burger came out as requested and the onion ring was massive. I ate that by itself because it dwarfed the burger.

This is a fun place for friends to hang out and others to plan party groups. It was so relaxing that some people were even playing games at their table. I did see some kids here, so it was fine for them. The local Air Force base personnel came here too. In fact it seemed that they had taken over the Deco Room as there was a big gathering and lots of clapping. It wasn’t too loud either and got quieter later in the night.

They also got merch, so pick up a shirt or something for home.

Food was pretty good, but the tacos portions were a little small for the price, should at least include a side. Atmosphere was great. We’d never been so ordering was confusing off the bat. You order at the bar and pick up at the kitchen.

The food was very oily. Fish and chips batter was very thick and held onto a lot of oil. Onion burger was good but overall the food was not worth the cost.

Cheese curds had uncooked batter on the inside of the very large pieces, so that wasn’t fun.

Overall the atmosphere was fine but overpriced and greasy. Would not come again.

Unfortunately, our experience at the Wandering Griffin Brewery & Restaurant was disappointing. Food: 1 star. The Caesar salad came with a tiny cup of dressing that was nowhere near enough for the size of the salad. We had to wait for our food to be prepared, but when it arrived, it was just warm, not hot. The pretzel would have been much better hot, the onion petals were greasy, and the wings were just okay. Overall, hotter food could have significantly improved the experience.

Service: 1 star. While the staff was friendly, the service left a lot to be desired. When we finally received our food, there was no silverware. After asking, I was directed to get it myself, but there was none available. I had to track down a staff member to bring us some. Then, we realized there were no napkins, and again, I was told where to find them. The lack of attention to basic service details, like having silverware and napkins readily available, is unacceptable, especially when there were plenty of open tables on a Saturday night. It makes me think the quality of the food and service might explain why the place wasn’t busy.

Atmosphere: 3 stars. The vibe was what you’d expect from a typical sports bar. We sat outside on a warm October evening, which was pleasant.

Given that the Wandering Griffin is a brewpub near hotels, I suspect they rely on new clientele and don’t get much repeat business. If they put more effort into improving the quality of the food and ensuring basic service elements like silverware and napkins are consistently available, I think they could turn things around. They have the potential to be a good spot but need to work on the details.

I had to leave a review after reading so many mixed 3-star reviews. I did not have any food however the beer was great, it is a brewery. Having to normally grab your food or drinks from a brewery is completely normal. For all the pinky up reviews, maybe go to a restaurant next time instead of a brewery. Great staff, and solid beers.
