We just moved back to the St. Louis area and we recall Missouri having bomb Chinese food, no matter where you go.

This statement is still true. Wan Fu is about 10 minutes from our house— and it’s delicious! We ordered a variety of things, and they were delicious. The Crab Rangoon and the General Tsing Chicken were the most notable, although the Garlic Chicken wasn’t half bad either 😉

Staff were super friendly upon pickup and the establishment is spacious and clean. We will be back, potentially for dine-in.

Our whole family loves Wan Fu, but instead of simply saying that, I asked my kids to write their own reviews. Here is a review from my 10yo:

I loved Wan Fu, it had excellent food and service. We got served right away and didn’t take any boxes home (because we ate everything!). Can’t wait to go there again, clearly 5 stars.

And here is a review from my 13yo:

Wan Fu is DELICIOUS! Everything tastes excellent, especially the lo mein noodles. This place is great to take your family to if you want them to have a good experience.

We have a number of Chinese restaurants closer to us, but this is our favorite by a long shot!

Third visit to Wan Fu for my wife & me over the last 2 years. We were greeted & seated immediately on arrival by a respectful young man, and our table server Marisa was cordial & attentive without being intrusive during our meal. Appetizers were enjoyed (Chicken Egg Roll & Crab Rangoon). We tried different dishes this time, and my Mongolian Beef was well prepared & very tasty. My wife chose Chicken with Broccoli; she said the meat & veg were perfectly prepared, but we could both see that the “creamy white sauce” was watery (she dipped her chicken in sweet & sour sauce to improve the flavor). We are still working our way through the large variety of entrees on the Wan Fu menu, so we will return.

My family and I have been looking for a new Chinese place in St. Louis to find and try out. We happen to stumble upon this one and I’m very glad that we did. I got the hot breast chicken and it was very flavorful and it was a great portion size. We also decided to try the fried rice which was also very tasty. They also had 50% off sushi rolls that day so we tried a shrimp California roll which was great. They have a lot of options on their menu so it was hard to choose so I will definitely have to be back to try some of the other menu options. The food didn’t take long to come out And it wasn’t too busy. This is a very cute place and had some adorable decorations.

Our family came here on a Saturday night, and they were not busy which was surprising; as this place came highly recommended. The food was outstanding! The service was great! And the owner came out several times to say hi to our daughter and give her a few lollipops. A great family feel, and probably the best Chinese I’ve had outside of China town in S.F.
My wife had the lo mein, I had Wan Fu vegetables, and stir fried rice. My in-laws had cashew chicken and sweet and sour chicken, both they loved. The crab Rangoon was crispy and tasty, and full of flavor! Will definitely be going back!

Edited 12/12/23: Sadly, I had to change my review. The restaurant is under new ownership and there were many changes made (as would be expected). They did some nice renovations inside and the new staff is very nice and attentive. However, the menu has changed considerably (looks like a few old menu items were kept). So we tried several things to get a better idea of the changes overall. First, I thought it was a nice touch to offer fruit infused water pitchers on each table. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal was not as impressive. Very, very, disappointing to find out that not only did the crab rangoon recipe change, but it changed so much they made them sweet now. It would have been nice if they at least offered a savory one as well since that was what the original one offered and was well known for. They did have a new addition of scallion pancakes that was good, but the other appetizers were what you would expect from any basic Chinese restaurant. For entrees, we tried the Black Pepper Chicken & Hibachi Chicken. The Black Pepper Chicken was good, but the Hibachi Chicken tasted like a mix of BBQ, teriyaki, and gravy. However, they do give you a lot of food with the Hibachi option (soup, salad, spring roll, edamame, & white or fried rice….fried rice was not good). Overall, the food was not bad, but it definitely was not what we had come to love and expect. Since we have to drive about 30 mins to get there, not sure if/how often we will be back since we have other Chinese takeouts near us with very similar food.

Wow!! This food is AMAZING! If you like savory crab rangoon or have never tried crab rangoon, you MUST get an order (or 2). The entree portions are generous and the food came out very hot. I got a variation on the sesame chicken (ask for Yen Ching sesame chicken) that is not breaded and is absolutely mouthwatering. The restaurant has been short staffed (sadly like all businesses these days) so the owners are serving guests, bussing tables, and helping in the kitchen. This is now our favorite Chinese restaurant and we would recommend it to everyone!

Good service, clean restaurant, and the food came out quickly. The volcano roll is among the best I’ve tasted, but the majority of food did not stand out.

We ordered a volcano roll to share as an appetizer, Wan Fu’s version is terrific. Easily our favorite item at the restaurant.

The Wan Fu garlic beef was flavorful, both beef and garlic are prominent; a dish worth ordering.

Bland – Beef fried rice, combination lo mein, and deluxe seafood. All tasted like they came from an inexpensive Chinese buffet, definitely edible; but not the sort of item you’d expect to order individually.

Extras – the ginger had an undesirable taste, it had an off putting taste suggesting it needs thrown away. The wasabi was dry and gritty. Sliced lemons we requested were bad, three slices were brought to us; one cut the same day, another appeared to have been sliced hours before if not the day before, and the last lemon was orange in appearance suggesting it needed thrown out days ago.

We have eaten here before but they have been closed due to remodeling. Let me tell you it was worth the wait! The food was outstanding! The soup was hot and flavorful, the fried rice was full of spices and tasted fresh. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, not to spicy but just enough heat. Our service was great, they kept apologizing for our wait but honestly it was not long for hot fresh food. She was very polite, attentive and we had everything we needed. Cant wait to go again!
