We had the oysters half western half Eastern, we liked the Eastern best. The waitress was super informative and nice. The Fish and chips were the best in flavor and size Ive ever had. Everyone liked their food. The wait to be seated was 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon.

We celebrated our friends 91st birthday and it was amazing. Our waitress Carly was the best in serving us our delicious meal of albacore sandwich melts, clam chowder, scallop and shrimp fettuccine and Peruvian ceviche. The vanilla crème brûlée was a delicious end to our lunch celebration

After having been closed following a heartbreaking fire that destroyed this longtime cornerstone restaurant on Main St. in Seal Beach (since back when I was a kid, more than 50 years ago!), it was SO nice to see it back up and running again, while visiting my old hometown area.

And the service and food did NOT disappoint… just as good as it always was. Friendly wait staff, excellent, quality, tasty food, and a really cool “open” kitchen design that allows you to walk right up and peer in the glass kitchen walls to see what’s goin’ on in there.

Walt’s clam chowder is an institution. Medium thick, amazing clam flavor, and the clams – HUGE, fresh, chewy clams, and LOTS of ’em! So good, especially when paired with the complimentary mini sourdough rolls!

The shrimp/scallops (bay, smaller type, but still very tasty) was excellent, with a very rich, very garlicky parmesan cream sauce. SO very good, served piping hot and full of flavor! (Ok, full disclosure, the portions are HUGE… I “might” have forgotten to take a pic before I dug in because it looked SO good… so please imagine a portion about 20% MORE than the large amount of pasta already pictured here 😉 .

Prices are not by any means “value” or cheap here, but the food quality is worth it! Highly recommend supporting this Seal Beach institution again, now that they’re back in full swing for about the past month.

Welcome back Walt’s!!

A casual but elegant seafood focused restaurant in the heart of charming old town Seal Beach. On our most recent visit, Lisa was our server and she was extremely helpful and attentive to our party. Everyone at our table loved their food. The atmosphere is comfortable and very suitable for pleasant conversations at your table. Currently, they also open an upstairs dining room on the weekends. Highly recommend for a nice meal.

The newly restored & beautifully remodeled Walt’s Wharf reopened in Seal Beach this week! Our waitress, Jennifer, was outstanding! She was friendly, and in tune with every need we had. Compliments to the chef for the famous grilled artichoke a & delicious lunch. Thank you to the Babcock family for your efforts and commitment to Walt’s Wharf and this community.

Food was ok, but lunch for 2 with decent tip hit $120, and we didn’t even have drinks. The clam chowder was a little runny for my taste. The 2 crab cakes were small and flavorless, and $28. Won’t be ordering that again. The molten Chocolate Bomb dessert was the best thing we had, followed by the free bread.

It was nice to see Walt’s Wharf open for business again. We enjoyed some great food (Trout Amandine, Shrimp Scampi, Ono and Scallops). The cocktails were nicely crafted (watermelon margaritas, jalapeño margaritas, Moscow mules and old fashions).

Service was timely, even though busy and our server was pleasant and helpful with suggestions.

Welcome back Walt’s Wharf!

Give them a visit – I’m sure you’ll enjoy.

Waiting to go back after closure. Was disappointed. Not as good as was before closure.
Shrimp cocktail was very different. Seasoned and warm laid out on a plate. Was expecting cold unseasoned shrimp. Much more traditional and refreshing when cold and unseasoned.
Tap beer selection was limited. No tap stout or red. Stuffed salmon was served with mashed potatoes….didn’t like that. Seafood is not paired well with mashed potatoes. Clam chowder was too thin. And no complimentary birthday cake or ice cream. Took 89 years old mom for her birthday. She had been asking to go back for over a year. Now seriously disappointed.

I have been visiting this establishment for over 30 years and was heartbroken when the fire close their doors. Yet when they finally reopened, not too much had changed. Great food! Fantastic atmosphere!! Personable and attentive staff!!! However, I guess that the fire damaged their plumbing, because the table water was awful and undrinkable! *And this increased our bill by 40%.
