My wife and I love eating at the Walrus (or picking up food). You could genuinely point randomly at the menu and be happy with whatever came out. From pizza, to burgers, to pasta, it’s all delicious and slightly more elevated than most places that serve the same genre of food. It’s nice to see some consistency with their staff too (who always take great care). I recently picked up a food order on my wife’s birthday, and they were kind enough to toss in a complimentary tiramisu to treat her! Thanks Walrus for hanging around and being one of our best local restaurants.

We loved our experience here. I got the pesto tortellini, which was delicious and I got plenty for lunch tomorrow too. I’m also so happy to see they have a Drekker Fluff Stuff on tap – I love Drekker Brewing and have only seen it a few places in Bismarck! Our server, Laurel, was incredible, and we really enjoyed talking with her throughout the evening. Thank you Walrus!

I had an outstanding dining experience at The Walrus Restaurant in Bismarck. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring our needs were met throughout the meal. The pastas were incredibly delicious, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The pizzas were equally impressive, with a perfect balance of toppings and a crisp, flavorful crust. The bread was fresh and complemented the meal wonderfully, and the Italian sodas were a delightful touch. Overall, everything was top-notch. Highly recommend The Walrus for an excellent dining experience!

We have been coming to the walrus for years and absolutely love it!!! I have a hard time deciding what to order because everything I’ve tried is so great!! Today I had the chicken Dijon tortellini and it was so good!! My husband had the stroganoff (not pictured) and the was amazing!! I have no words for how good the sauce tasted!! I tried the huckleberry seltzer from Gideon’s which was also delicious. We brought my kids and they had Italian sodas which my kids loved very much. They have also done an update on their decor and it looks so good! We will definitely be back. It is one of our favorite places in Bismarck!!

Walking into the walrus, I was surprised by its dim romantic vibe, coming from the strip mall parking lot next to the family dollar, I was not expecting that. It gave the impression that it would be a fantastic place for a date. Unfortunately for me I was there with a coworker, but fortunately we were able to joke about the romantic setting.

We were started with a dense fresh warm bread with herb butter. The butter had something interesting in it (sage or fennel) and I liked the touch, but it was served in plastic ramekins, for the overall price and ambiance I would expect glass ramekins.

After ordering my entree, the waitress asked “would you like a soup or a salad with that?” I chose the Caesar salad and my coworker chose the chicken and wild rice soup but this is an important note that I will come back to.

The salad was disappointing. It was a big pile of romaine on a very small plate with pre grated Parmesan and store bought croutons. And the dressing was very salty (but good). The plate was so small that the salad kept falling off. My coworker noted that the chicken with wild rice soup was disappointing, with not much chicken, and the chicken that was present was small and obviously came from a can. These are important notes that I will come back to.

The entree, meatball stroganoff, was fantastic. It was 5 stars. Very nice flavor, good amount of mushrooms, perfectly cooked noodles. The sauce was savory but not overly rich. It was herbaceous. The meatballs were nice and there was a good ratio of meatball to pasta. The variation in type of cut (long skinny onion, various shapes of mushroom) showed the touch of a chef that was obviously well trained.

When we got the bill, I was shocked and appalled to see that I was charged $7 for my salad, and my coworker was charged $7 for the soup. When asked “soup or salad?” I assumed that it came with the entree, it was not posed to me as an additional item. I have never seen this done before and I was very frustrated. To make it worse the salad was honestly atrocious. I could have thrown together a nicer salad in my hotel room. This left a bad taste in my mouth right at the end of the meal, which is the mist important time to satisfy the customer.

The walrus was about to get a rare 5 star from me. I was willing to overlook the plastic butter ramekin, and even willing to overlook the salad. The stroganoff was easily worth the twenty some dollar price tag. But being charged for something posed as something that came with the meal really rubbed me the wrong way. All in all, I will be returning to the walrus, it’s probably the best place I have been to eat in Bismarck. But I will not be getting the soup or salad. Maybe after a second, better experience I will increase my star rating.

Had lunch here while visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Bismarck and enjoyed the stop…good food and a good beer selection. While we found the atmosphere a little dark to our liking (low light levels made reading the menu difficult) the quality and taste of the food was great!

The complimentary table bread and butter (see picture) was basic but good. For my lunch, I kept it simple and light…going for the Turkey Sandwich with Pepper Jack cheese (see picture). While the bread was basic bakery loaf style, the sandwich was fresh and tasted great!

Other than bringing your own light to read the menu (if you are over the age of 50 like us), you will enjoy a stop here – great food and service.

Food was good. Restaurant was clean. It was very crowded, tables too close together. It was very noisy, couldn’t hear each other talking at our table. Had to tell the waitress we were ready to order and it took forever to get our bill.

Food was decent, yet we called ahead to ask if they had room for two and a baby. They said yes so we went down and then we got told they don’t and we have to wait for a booth. There was multiple tables open and people behind us got sat at them. We asked why we didn’t get a table and she just acted snobby.

Not family friendly, and we have an amazing baby who hardly ever cries and she was sleeping the entire time. Made my mom heart break that we were discriminated against just for having a baby.

Walrus in Bismarck is doing it right. Homemade bread, freshly made pasta, and excellent service. The fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned with sea salt and fresh pepper, and the buffalo chicken wrap was hands-down the best I’ve ever had. You can tell they care about quality from the first bite to the last.

Trendy, newly renovated space giving art deco vibes. My family and I loved this restaurant: our favorite we tried in Bismarck during our vacation! It was very busy, but the service was good and all the staff we interacted with were very friendly and personable. The menu and craft beer selection were so extensive and everything sounded so delicious! We had a hard time deciding but ultimately got the gochujang wings, cajun tetrazzini pasta, vegetable penne rose, Italian sausage pizzaiola, and Tuscany salad. Everything was delicious, but the tetrazzini was a real winner!!! I also got the pineapple cider, which was very enjoyable.
