I have lived in different parts of the country, and I travel a lot and have shopped at a multitude of Walmarts and Walmart delis. My experience at this Walmart deli is by far the worst experience I have ever had with customer service at any deli in any grocery I have ever shopped in the country.

I had approached the counter to order some turkey. A young gentleman, I believe his name is Gavin, was apparently assigned to the deli counter, and he obviously did not want to do that job. He slammed down what he was working on and stomped up to the counter and said in a very curt tone “what do you want?” I was a little taken aback by that very cold and almost accusatory tone, as if I were interrupting his work and he was mad about it. What followed confirmed it. I asked specifically for 1/2 pound of shaved turkey and he proceeded to shave well over a pound. I stated that I had only ordered a half a pound. He said “I’m not taking it off”, to which I replied, “I only ordered one half pound. “
Gavin actually ignored me and started to package the shaved deli meat. I loudly repeated for the third time that I had only ordered a half a pound. He continued ignoring me and continued to package the meat. So, I got louder and shouted back, “can somebody else back there help me?“
Gavin then took the overweight deli meat back out of the package, put it back on the scale, and started to pinch off little bits of the shaved meat and was slamming it into the trashcan very angrily.

Someone from the back came up and relieved him to finish my order. He was sent out of the deli and the other employee, who was very pleasant, re-did and completed my order pleasantly and accurately. I even expressed to her that the other gentleman should not be interacting with the public. He was extremely rude. She agreed and apologized for his behavior.

I’m sorry, but you should not put employees in a position that they have to apologize to customers for the negative and abusive behavior of other employees. This young man should not be working anywhere where he has to interact with the public. Is if he is working, I avoid the deli.
I would give this Walmart deli zero stars except for the employee who stepped in and earned the one star I gave.
