Stopped by at about 1:20 pm looking for a hot dog. Food was out and the delicious smell was killing me, but nobody in sight. I waited about ten to fifteen minutes – I was really craving a hot dog – and called out to the back several times, but nobody came. This is the second time in a row I’ve stopped by around 1:00 and found the place empty. The food is great – albeit pricey – when there’s someone there to serve it, but it’s hit and miss whether an employee will be around to serve you.

Incredible! They only take card payments so be sure you have one but service was extremely friendly and efficient. Phone chargers available and plenty of seating in the cafeteria. Amazing food too. Stop in!!

Always good food at Walkin’ Dog. Today had one of my favorites chili dogs and a shake. Chocolate Caramel. Tasty lunch. Always enjoy visiting when I’m downtown.

A Chicago dog made without love. The bun was dry and broke apart. The chopped onions were the bitter middle of the onion. The dog room temp, is that even safe? The neon relish is nasty. Step it up guys, that was a tragedy.

little awkward to get too, it’s on the first floor of the north star center within the cafeteria, tucked away in the corner to the right of the actual cafeteria stand –

as for the food – wonderful variety of vienna and regular dogs as well as brats! chili is amazing also! only wish would be for a menu explaining the toppings available (mac and cheese and breadcrumbs and hot sauce is a combo i learned up north!)

Really great dogs, very much like what you’d find in Chicago. Also a great value in you can still get a lunch in Downtown for around $5 – which isn’t easy to find. They also have lunch specials and several different kinds of dog toppings. Old school, solid, and reasonably priced. Kind of tucked away so it won’t jump out at you. but it’s worth the quest!

This restaurant is a rare gem. Most downtown restaurants are all about trends, and leafy greens and ethnic infusions. All of which are fine and dandy. But walkin’ Dog is all about classic hot dogs and polish sausages. They have root beer and milk shakes. And they are open for business in this pandemic. So if your downtown and want a simple meal, you should stop here. I rarely give out 5 stars. But they deserved it hands down for reaming classic and delicious. The owner is always super friendly and fast.

Thanks hot dog man.
