I live near Springfield, Massachusetts and drive out of my way for hours, just to taste this amazing Ethiopian food. Their generous staff and impeccable food make it well worth the trip. The doro tibs, fasolia, misir watt and kik alicha are my personal favorites. The chef frequently comes out to greet every table to ask how our food was. One time, I mentioned that I gladly come from 5 hours away and she surprised me with a free entree for the ride home! I’ll never forget those kind of moments that make dining truly special. Whenever I’m remotely near New Jersey, this will forever be my first stop!

Loved the food, especially the vegetables and meat dishes. I’m so looking forward to having my food catered by them for an upcoming event. I didn’t like the legumes or cabbage as much, but everything else was on point. So on point! Oh, and the handmade Baklava (probably spelled that wrong), was a amazing!

I am disappointed, Yesterday I took my daughter and her two friends who were visiting from California. The waiters basically forget our drink and never apologized.we kept asking for the coffee almost 4 times and waited 30 minutes for the coffee .we asked about our check 5 times. Both waiter kept ignoring us never checked on us .We used to love this restaurant but we finally decided we will just go to Montclair at least we get some decent service . We are black and obviously this place cater to white customers only that what we observed .So So Sad 🙁

What a great experience here! The food was yummy and the service was excellent. Gluten-free options are available.

The place is clean, staff is friendly. The place is welcoming and the food is yummy… please note, Ethiopian food is consumed with your hands. There are utensils available if needed.

Parking is on street and difficult. We were lucky to find a spot close by.

The area can be kind of sketchy at times, and while we were there, several police were on foot and on the hunt for an individual.

if you can overlook the other issues, it’s worth a trip.

Such a great place to eat! Please support our local black business :). I loved the food and the staff were so kind. The owner personally came to my table to ask me how I was and how was the food.

Run don’t walk there!!

Definitely recommend! Great flavors, polite staff, unique experience given that this genre of food isn’t so common.

There’s something on the menu for everyone. Great variety in the dishes and you’re able to customize with sides & level of spiciness. I recommend you get spicy.

The only downside is that items are a bit too pricey for the serving size that you get. You get plenty of Injera but the portions of protein & sides are small.

That aside, the restaurant is clean and nice. Definitely worth a visit.

The best Ethiopian food right here in South Orange at Walia restaurant. Food from the heart!
Loved all vegetarian option – lentils too good. Cabbage and potato were delicious snd samboosa and mushrooms were divine! My favorite was surprisingly tofu in coconut sauce and shrimp in tomato sauce … it was just the right number of people to create a great vibe.
Restaurant owner loves to serve and the hospitality of this place goes a long way.

This is a cute little place. We arrived around 4pm and had no problem finding a table for 5 (4 adults and a baby). We ordered two meat combos for two, it was delicious and everybody enjoyed it and had enough food. We did waited longer than usual for the dishes to arrive but it was totally worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

If you are looking for something different, this is it. Lots of interesting dishes, both meat and vegi. Love the injera bread. The banana pudding, though not an Ethiopian dish, was very good. Would be nice if they could play some traditional music and improve the atmosphere. Very reasonably and specifically priced . Fun sharing experience. Highly recommend.
