Our barista was amazing and made great coffees. We had the Creme Brulee and Butterscotch lattes, both really good. They have something called a croffle that’s a waffle toasted croissant. Our barista made the berry version which isn’t on the menu BUT they should definitely offer it. It was beautiful and delicious!
Wake Coffee Cafe isn’t just a place to grab a caffeine fix; it’s a genuine community hub with a fantastic atmosphere and seriously good coffee. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the comforting aroma of freshly roasted beans and a friendly, bustling energy.
Ambiance and Vibe (5/5)
The decor strikes a perfect balance between cozy and modern. Exposed brick, comfortable seating (including a mix of tables for working and plush armchairs for lounging), and local art create an inviting space. It’s clean, well-lit, and the music selection is always spot-on—never too loud, just the right backdrop for conversation or focus. Whether you’re meeting a friend or settling in with a laptop, the environment is welcoming and productive.
The Coffee (5/5)
This is where Wake truly shines. They clearly care about their craft. I ordered a standard latte and was impressed by the rich, smooth espresso and the perfect microfoam. My friend tried their seasonal specialty drink—a maple brown sugar shaken espresso—and raved about the balanced sweetness. They offer a great selection of pour-overs and cold brews, too, ensuring there’s something for every coffee purist and experimental drinker. The baristas are knowledgeable and clearly take pride in their work.
Food and Treats (4.5/5)
While primarily a coffee shop, their baked goods and light fare are excellent. The pastries are always fresh; the blueberry scone is flaky perfection, and their breakfast burritos are a popular grab-and-go option. They also offer a few gluten-free and vegan choices, which is a big plus. The only minor critique is that the food menu is focused and doesn’t offer extensive meal options, but what they do offer, they execute very well.
Service (5/5)
The service is consistently quick, efficient, and genuinely warm. Even during peak rush times, the staff maintains a positive attitude and makes you feel valued. They remember regulars, offer helpful suggestions, and get the orders right every time.
Overall Verdict
Wake Coffee Cafe earns a resounding five stars. It’s the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop that excels in all the right areas: exceptional coffee, a wonderful atmosphere, and top-tier service. If you’re in the area, skip the chain stores and make this your go-to spot.
People. 12/10 experience and will be returning to try some cocktails and a charcuterie board!
Great environment and unique decor.
There’s lots of seating options and seating areas- from the large table, to individual chairs, the bench, outside and the bar.
The have 3 more private areas if you need to get done with done and even a private room it says you can reserve (not sure on cost of that)
The latte I got was tasty, though it was night so I got decaf and it wasn’t spectacular.
My wife got the Lavender Vanilla latte and said it’s the best she’s ever had (it was quite tasty!
It was very clean.
I recommend checking out this place.
My only complaint is the high cost of the drinks.
The parking space is spacious and excellent. The location is close to Mountain Island, Stonewater, and the Overlook neighborhood. The place is very accessible. The restroom is very clean and well maintained.
The place also offers outdoor seating. Overall an excellent place!
