Amazing value for Hawaii. Everything we had was great. We came here twice on our stay. Get the ginger chicken, like Hainese chicken. Will definitely be coming back!

Chicken Katsu plate: Really large portion. Taste is good. Comes with rice and Mac & cheese. Recommend.
Beef stew plate: beef stew with carrots and potatoes. Taste is good. Beef is not tender though. Only 3 pieces of beef chucks in the plate. Not recommend.
Healthier Chicken BBQ: grilled chicken with salad. Chicken is tender. The taste is good. Portion is reasonable. Recommend.
Healthier garlic shrimp: portion is reasonable. However, the quality of shrimp is not good. Maybe it has been frozen for too long. Not recommend.
Service is good. Atmosphere is typical for a fast food restaurant.

I ordered the Fried Fish Sandwich. When I got it at the L&L in Pahoa, it automatically came with lettuce, onion and tomato. This sandwich just had two super flat pieces of fish and a thin smear of tartar sauce that tasted like it came out of a packet. And that was it! Pretty ghetto! I also got the Veggies Egg Rolls. They were crispy on the outside but the filling had a slimy texture and didn’t taste very good. Now the scary part: the sweet and sour sauce had no flavor, so I dumped it on the ground. That’s when I noticed that there were big chunks of a thick “film” of something that had broken up and was floating around in the sauce! (See photo.) GROSSSSS! I hope I don’t get sick from eating it!

I’m a semi-regular of L & L across Hawaii. One of the newest locations in Waikoloa on the Big Island (Hawaii Island) is one the best I’ve ever been to. It’s located in a brand new shopping center. Just enjoying my mixed plate and noticed the amount of regulars already and plenty of tourists making a pit stop. Clean, friendly staff, and delicious food is amazingly good. Some of the other locations couldn’t get rice right, but this one got everything right. I will return when I’m back in this area.

It’s a hit or miss place. They seem so withdrawn seeing people of color let alone a tourist it’s almost like they don’t want to serve you. The food items I got the bbq plate was a miss in flavor but cooked well, the chicken katsu wasn’t half bad. The shrimp curry was awful and bland. L&L on the far south of the island makes it way better and gives you a better amount of shrimp. Hell to be honest with everyone, I don’t think I’ll come back here. I’d go to any other location. This one made me feel like something was off, and I’d rather spend my money where I’m welcome.

The characteristics of Hawaii, although there is LL BBQ in California, only when I tasted LL here did I realize that the taste is different from California’s, and it is still more authentic in Hawaii!.

I come here practically everyday. The Service is always great, they get you in and out. Bbq cheeseburger is good. Can’t go wrong with the Katsu Chicken. BBQ short Ribs is another go to for me. BEST L&L ON THE BIG ISLAND
