My stepdaughter called WAFU, and they said they’d love to have us.
We arrived about 30 minutes later and were greeted by a very friendly staff. We ordered soda & sushi. The sushi was really fresh & flavorful.
Then we ordered hibachi. Our hibachi chef was a white dude named Josh. Our chefs in the past have always been Japanese, so there was some apprehension on our part.
Josh ended up being the best grill chef we ever had. He put on an incredible show, kept my 3 year old granddaughter entertained, and served up some of the best hibachi we’ve ever had!
So, what we thought was going to be a disaster turned out to be the best thing that could have happened with us on Christmas day. The food was great, the portions were really generous and I felt like we got great value for the cost. We took a lot home and will be eating WAFU for dinner with the leftovers.
Visit WAFU, and if you call ahead, be sure to ask for Josh.
Some.pics are attached.
Josh was our chef and did a fantastic job entertaining us and with our food!
I mentioned it was her birthday and you should’ve seen the way they treated her! Like a Queen for a day! She was ecstatic!
Thank you all for making her birthday even better!
This was my second visit, hoping for improvement, but sadly, it fell short again. The food was not fresh, overpriced, and the taste was mediocre at best. If given a choice, I wouldn’t come back.
Overall, I am deeply disappointed with this restaurant and would not recommend it.
The place appeared to be clean and newly renovated. The exhaust fans and the grills were noticeably cleaner than what we are accustomed to. We were definitely grateful for that.
The seating arrangements were closer than we are used to in DC/MD/VA. There were literally five people in our party (four adults and a toddler). There were also two other couples seated with us around one grill.
We spent over $200.00 and the chef stole shrimp from us. (See video) Very disheartening that your employees have to steal food.
We ordered the Samurai dinner, an additional order of scallops, two Mai Tai, children shrimp, chicken and fried rice, salmon and shrimp, vegetable sushi, steak hibachi, and whatever else is on the receipt.
I usually make it my business to graciously tip the chef and graciously tip the server. I did not tip the chef anything because he took his own tip today.
Not sure how they generally tip in Goldsboro NC but the waitress/server was super shocked by receiving a 25% gratuity. I’ve never had two strong Mai Tai for $9.00 each. That’s absolutely unheard of in our neck of the woods.
I expect for Wafu to contact me and make this right.
