The definition of what greasy spoon diner should be. A variety of selections spanning breakfast, lunch, and dinner all available 24/7. And if they aren’t open, you best be in a storm shelter because it’s a dangerous day for humanity in the area.
Eggs and hash browns, just always spot on. Get the hash browns topped with what ever you wish as well. I also suggest, extra crispy.
The T-Bone is a good breakfast steak or add on if you just want some beef. It’s not steak house quality, but it does the trick for breakfast or as an add on to some other dish.
Grilled chicken is always flavorful. Sometimes it can be a bit overcooked and dry, but when cooked perfectly you get a crisp outside and juicy inside with a nice flavor profile from seasoning. Get it toppee with grilled onions and add a touch of Tabasco.
And the chili varies in consistency, but each time it still has a satisfying flavor profile. Especially when you add Tabasco and Worcestershire.
Thankful for this place since they are always open when all else is closed.

Usually, everything is great here. But today was kinda a shit show. Found a hair in our waffle, our music we played was not up to our waitress standers saying and I quoit, “whoever playing this need to get out”. Touch toons has setting for music they will and won’t allow. Most of the music is family friendly but it’s too “punk” for her.

The waitress staff at this location is poor with 1 exception but you never know who you’re going to get. They never remember a special request. Ex.- I ask for an 1 extra container of jelly when I order toast and they NEVER remember to give it to me when my food arrives. The other day, my food arrives and again I asked for the extra jelly but I never did get it. And it’s the same with every waitress in the joint except for 1. The Huber location does just fine so I drive from Vandalia to Huber for Waffle House.

Another visit, another disappointing experience. Seems like a full crew with about six people in the restaurant. Three open tables and all of them a complete greasy mess. I picked the one that was the least nasty. ‘Nicki’ try to take my order before even wiping down the table so I could put my arms and phone on it. I don’t know what to say. It just went downhill from there. I’m done. I’m just going to find another late night greasy spoon for those times that I need one. Cannot recommend.

Disappointing breakfast. The service was not impressive. Runny “over medium” eggs. Toast was soggy. Cold grits. I’ll probably give them another chance. I’ve seen them do much better. Hope the manager sees this review. Can’t recommend this time. ☹️

Awesome food and atmosphere! We got in a huge fight but the hostess was flirting with us and these 2 guys were drunk and upset about their hash browns. Obviously not getting the attention they needed. Our food was great and service was awesome. Some of the cooks even sing if you play a song they like. Pretty lame during the day but after midnight, this place comes alive like splashing water on a Gremlin!! 10/10 definitely recommend!

Normally I love Waffle House. I don’t usually come to this location it just happened to be closest to my work today. My waitress was Mercedes and when I tell you I’ve never experience such high schooler behavior from a grown woman at work. She was running her mouth about the other women she works with and just saying down right nasty things. If I wasn’t starving I would’ve got up and left. Too busy gossiping to check on my table or refill my beverage. I’ll be back to waffle, but never this one if I see this girl in there again.

Vandalia Waffle House is always so amazing. We go out of our way to go here. The service is wonderful and the food is hot and fresh. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience here to date. I highly recommend this restaurant.
