We ordered and was taking our first bite in less than 5 minutes.
Delicious food, good prices, and the workers are friendly and effecient.
I didn’t realize I was ordering the “Chef’s Personal DNA Sampler.” Somewhere in that kitchen, hairnets are apparently just a suggestion.
Waffle House is supposed to be greasy comfort food served with chaos, not a forensic investigation. I came hungry and left traumatized, wondering how many more strands didn’t get caught.
Absolutely foul. Do better.
Worst of all? We still paid for both meals.
Unfortunately, this Waffle House location in Blythewood, SC, ranks as the worst I have ever visited. While the exterior and curb appeal initially gave me hope (reason for the 1 star), the experience quickly deteriorated once inside.
The restaurant was unclean from the start. I could see grease from the grill built up under the grill. The grill itself appeared neglected, with visible black buildup and burnt food debris. My steak was placed directly onto this surface without proper cleaning. To make matters worse, when I requested seasoning, it was forgotten on the grill and instead applied directly onto the plate, leaving salt and pepper scattered across the dish rather than enhancing the flavor of the meal. The floors had not been sweeped or mopped. And oh yeah, I forgot to mention, my Grits had something hard and brown colored that I fished out of my plate. Im assuming it was Grits once the burn and stick to the bottom.
Cleanliness and food safety should be non-negotiable, yet both were clearly lacking. Based on my observations, I am highly doubtful this location would pass a surprise night time health inspection. After avoiding this restaurant for three years, I decided to give it another opportunity, but unfortunately, nothing has improved.
For those seeking a true Waffle House experience, I strongly recommend the location on South Lake Drive in Lexington (next to Maurice’s BBQ). That restaurant is consistently clean, professional, and welcoming — the complete opposite of what I experienced in Blythewood.
Gave 1 star because I have to!!! This visit wasn’t worth two cents!!! I’m not even going to mention the waitress’ service!
