Once again, there’s somthing about the awful waffle that keeps me coming back. Nothing special, basic food but the most consistant eatery around, scattered and smothered hash browns, perfect. You get exactly what you ordered as expected every time. Though a sit down meal its as fast as many drive through.

We walked in the door at 6:20 and had coffee in front of us before 6:25 with breakfast set down on the table by 6:35. Super quick service though it wasn’t terribly busy this morning.
Friendly service and the restaurant was about as clean or quiet as you can expect. But the portions were large and the food was cooked fresh. I still miss the Waffle House salsa so I plan ahead and bring my own hot sauce. Otherwise, it was as great a meal as you can have here.

We have several Waffle Houses in our area. But for unknown reasons, we drive past them to get to this one.
I have eaten in Waffle Houses, all over the southeastern United States since the 1960s. Slight differences from time-to-time but food and service is always good. The atmosphere is always ‘Waffle House.’
2024 Oct 24.
In between chores today. My wife and I stopped for lunch at Waffle House, 371 Long Shoals Rd, Arden NC.
While our food was being prepared, an employee was busy doing restaurant ‘chores’ near our table.
My wife asked him if he fared okay during the hurricane (a most often asked question here in the mountains of western North Carolina).
“I lived in a camper. It and my pickup truck got washed away. Me and my dog made it out okay.”
“We are now living in a shelter. They look after my dog while I work.”
“I have had to start over before. I can do it again.”
Tough situation for this young man, but I like his ‘can do’ attitude and outlook on life.
