I, like many other’s came due to a lot of ppl reviewing this restaurant on tik tok and IG. The website didn’t work and no one answered the phone, so trying to order ahead was impossible. I arrived around 12:40 on Sunday and the line wasn’t too bad but the sitting area was full of patrons waiting for their orders. I noticed that Salmon was already blocked out as a protein option and to note they opened at Noon. I was pretty taken aback when I seen the Soulfood bowl was $27. That’s very steep considering other soul food restaurants for half the price. Around 1:45 my order was ready, but by this time they were out of pot roast and collard greens. Again they hadn’t been open for 2 hours and the menu items were already selling out.
Overall review of soulfood bowl it’s a solid 3/5, not worth $27. The dressing had more of a stuffing mix taste and the cornbread was overcooked around the edges giving a burnt flavor. The mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were really good. The pot roast was decent, just a tad fatty but good.

Ordered food over the phone and it was ready in 15 minutes. We ordered shrimp & Grits, salmon Croquettes with cheese grits, jerk Chicken egg rolls, biscuits, and peach cooler egg rolls. Everything was Delicious! The order was ready when we came in. The have some tasty lemonade as well. The customer service was nice too.

Their yams were good. I got the soul bowl. The greens were good but kind of salty. The yams were good. Seasoned just right. The pot roast was good. I have to give him that I did not like because the peach cobbler came in a roll like an egg roll. I would have liked to had some dipped out and put in a bowl. I’m not used to this. I haven’t tasted it yet. The cornbread is too sweet and it’s like it’s jiffy not real cornbread from cornmeal. I feel that that so-called cornbread should have been on the top wrapped separately, not mushed up underneath your food. I won’t go back again. I’m sorry

It’s a small restaurant but it’s a place worth visiting. I had the peach cobbler rolls, definitely good. The 2 pound chicken alfredo bake potato was delicious . I will be back for soul food Sunday.

My husband had been trying to get me here for sometime now, but they only open on weekends so it took us a minute to get there but let me tell you…we are glad we made it. The soul food bowls were very good! My husband had the pot roast which was amazing. I had the baked white meat chicken, my breast was moist and seasoned well. The sweet potatoes were good, a bit dry…I like mine a little saucy. The peach mango lemonade was fye! They are a bit pricey, but as we know prices are up everywhere and people have to make a profit. I would still go back, great food and service!

Ate here for the first time yesterday with my sister. Had great conversation with the lady who waited on us and love that they promote other Black businesses.
We enjoyed the cheese grits, the jerk, corn beef, and peach cobbler egg rolls and a slice of lemon cake. Everything was absolutely delicious. Don’t know if I’ll make it back for soul food Sunday, but I will definitely bring friends with me to try the daily menu items.

Ordered on DoorDash, but this was such an excellent experience. The owner called and said the salads were pre-made in the morning, and taking the onions off wouldn’t happen. But then said they would do it since it was a food allergy. Portions were massive, well worth it. Salmon Croquettes crispy and garlicy. Cheese grits are absolutely divine. Jerk flavor is very powerful but flavorful. Egg rolls are very crispy and full. Can’t wait to order again.

Alright my peoples this restaurant is amazing the customer service was nice and the atmosphere is sweet and cozy. I will be back I ordered the shrimp and grits and she didn’t miss a beat on it. So good you will want another bite. My wife ordered the chicken Caesar wrap and she loved it. She ate so fast I couldn’t get a picture of her food. But check out the shrimp and grits the menu is right. I will be back for their soul food Sunday in April . This restaurant is worth the drive from Chicago
