Volo Wine Bar is truly such a hidden gem and one of my new favorite spots in Chicago! Their cozy, intimate patio is actually unreal — I’d go back for that alone, and the food and wine/cocktail lineup is also just as amazing.
Their Happy Hour is one of the best I’ve found too: $1 oysters, $6 wine, and $8 sangria (Tuesday–Saturday, 4–6pm). Plus, they’re currently celebrating their 20-year anniversary right now with 20% off all champagne, which is such a great bonus.
Highly recommend checking this place out — you won’t want to miss this one!

My boyfriend and I had a great time at Volo Wine Bar! The Happy Hour deals are amazing and they have a great selection of wines. The ambience is the absolute best for date nights – no better place in the city. Our server Caroline was so great. Highly recommend checking this out. Quite an experience!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Volo Wine Bar. We had never seen this place, but when we walked in, we were like “why have we never come here?” The front is a busy little wine bar but when you enter into the back, it opens up into a beautiful garden patio.
The food is yummy – we started with a few flatbreads, oysters, and bone marrow. The bone marrow was a delight and everything else was a hit, too. We tried a few drinks and even some shots that the server suggested.
This spot is perfect for date night or catching up with friends. They rent out the back patio for events as well. The owner John is fantastic and the service is 10/10.

Such a fun wine bar!! Me and my friends went to celebrate a friends birthday on their heated patio and it was FABULOUS! We had oysters and wine and bread galore! The owners girlfriend treated us to dessert and it was a night to remember (we went in Nov 2024). We are making our way back to Chicago in the coming months and cannot wait to revisit and take new friends! Best happy hour, best vibes and best service!

I really enjoyed the happy hour with their amazing $1 oysters deal. Loved the cozy and lovely cabanas added such a nice touch to the experience. The shrimp ceviche was good, and I had an excellent red wine recommend by John. My entree was a little disappointing, as the steak was well-done and little dry. However, the dessert was the perfect size and absolutely delicious.
I definitely recommend this place for a date night or an evening out with friends.

The oysters were served at room temperature-cool instead of cold, and they had a very strong sea taste, something I’ve never experienced before despite having many oysters before. Honestly, as an oyster lover they were the worst I’ve had. The sangria was off, the beer wasn’t cold enough, and the flatbread was a letdown it was just a thin crust with meat sprinkled on top, dry like a cracker. The only positive I’ll give them is that the patio itself is really pretty. Overall not worth the hype

Love the aesthetic! Amazing wine selection. We started with the happy hour, where you can get $1 oysters and spritz. Then we did dessert with some great wine choices. Staff is very helpful!

Wish I would have known about this place sooner. We made a reservation, and we’re glad we did. The place was packed, and it’s no surprise why. $1 oysters for happy hour (and these oysters were not small) and drink specials. Our sever, Caroline, was super friendly and attentive. She overheard us mention that we were celebrating a birthday and she sent out a dessert. Could not have asked for a better experience. Will definitely return to Volo.

A friend and I decided to try their happy hour, since they have one even on Fridays! We sat in the front at the bar, but I’ve been to the cabanas and if you can get one they’re DIVINE!
The staff is personable, but professional – they have such a good neighborhood feel.
The red sangria was really good not too fruity or too weak, and we shared a plate of the mussels which weren’t on the HH menu but boy am I glad we got them anyway! They offered us more bread for the garlic butter sauce too, which was so appreciated. We didn’t feel rushed and the place was consistently busy without feeling overly crowded or loud which was the perfect vibe . My friend and I are already talking about going back! Thank you Volo!
