We also ordered the Hokkaido Spicy Beef Ramen. It was a large bowl with a decent amount of meat along with perfect soft eggs and so much flavor.
Service was fast and very professional. We felt like we were treated very well. It’s a great place to go if you want a calm and quiet atmosphere.
The atmosphere is super relaxed and chill. The staff is always very friendly and willing to answer any questions. I love coming here. The food is always on point.
We arrived around 7:15 p.m. (they close at 9), and the restaurant was mostly empty. Still, we were seated in a section where our server, Esther, was sweeping and cleaning up for the night. Why seat guests in an area you’re already closing down?
The biggest issue: she wore the same blue gloves to sweep, pick things up off the floor, handle payments, and serve food and drinks without ever changing them. It was unhygienic and honestly disgusting.
Trying to give the place a chance, I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and subbed corn for fungus. My bowl arrived with corn anyway. Esther asked if I had a food allergy or if I wanted her to take it back and have the cooks remove it for me, but since I don’t like sending food back for a variety of reasons, I decided to pick it out myself. The broth was bland and not spicy at all; it tasted like chicken broth.
The issue is that they use chili oil to make the broth spicy, but I’m not sure that’s the right way to build spice in a ramen broth. I’ve been to plenty of ramen restaurants that use spicy miso to add depth and heat, and it makes a big difference. My bowl was also missing bamboo, which was listed on the menu. When I mentioned it, she offered to bring bamboo and another bowl of broth, which did taste better, but by that point the experience was already ruined.
What made it worse was overhearing her tell another table that she was “distracted” because of my situation, more than once, while I was sitting right there. Completely unprofessional.
We also ordered the Kobe Beef Roll, which was supposed to come with fried asparagus but had sautéed asparagus instead. When it arrived, we had to ask for appetizer plates and soy sauce cups. Then she reached over our table mid-meal to take the soy sauce bottle to refill it, and reached back over again to return it.
Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Between the poor hygiene, incorrect orders, bland food, and unprofessional service, our date night was completely ruined. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
My best friend and I decided to go for the all-you-can-eat menu , but they are new to this style of service. Most all you can eat places serve in smaller portions, Volcano forgets to mention these are full size portions, but WILL tell you they charge for any leftovers. 90 minute time limit and pressured at the door (and table) to make a quick decision on what menu you want to choose from.
That being said their ayce bowl of ramen is a full size portion (huge loaded bowl that would have added $17 to my check if I wouldn’t have finished it) / stuffed avocado 4cs/ takoyaki 4pcs/ crab rangoon 4pcs (no crab inside) /specialty rolls 8-10pc/ SASHIMI-> 4 pcs per person per visit (this is what I came for and why I chose this option) / yellowtail hamatchi 5pcs/ seaweed salad portion was gigantic ( way bigger than any regular restaurant would serve a single portion sold individually) .
Fried foods will come out first because they are more filling- lower cost items come in mass quantity (salads, seaweed salad)
Bao bun meats were excellent, Bao bun itself was not great.
LOVED their ramen. Glad I only got one bowl due to portion size, but would be nice to see them adjust portions to accommodate their ayce menu. I will definitely be back but will be sure to BEWARE THE UP CHARGES.
I’ll definitely come back. It was amazing. Our waiter even packed up my leftovers. I’m so happy I tried this restaurant.
We chose this place for a birthday celebration and our waiter, Jay was great. He even brought a special birthday treat with candles!
