I love this place so much! I came to Lubbock for school for the first time last year and didn’t know anywhere to eat at as I had some bad experiences with other restaurants. I had been wanting to try African food for a while and decided to give this place a try. I am so so grateful that I did! It is so amazing! The service and atmosphere is great! The owner really is passionate about his restaurant and loves what he does. They were really kind and helped us picked out the best items they thought we would like as it was our first time. The food came and we absolutely loved it! My boyfriend ordered the taste of Africa which was so so flavorful and delicious and I really enjoyed it! We also got the suya which is like little steak pieces with onions and a spicy seasoning which was super yummy! I ordered the okra soup and fufu and loved it so much! I really love okra so that soup was a match made in heaven for me and was something I really really enjoyed! I crave it so often now and have even door dashed it a few times when studying because it’s all I want to eat! Really great experience eating here and really amazing food! I highly recommend!

I would spend my last $20 on their egusi soup and fufu.
Y’all it’s my first time coming here and it’s amazing. I literally picked up my food 20 minutes ago and had to leave a review as soon as I was done eating. Good portions and amazing flavor!! Definitely coming back

When you first walk in, the restaurant is very inviting and cozy. Staff are super friendly and very helpful on recommendations with the menu. Prices are definitely right for the amount of portions they give you on your plate. This restaurant uses bold flavors that will awaken your taste buds. It was a really pleasant experience and we will be back again!
We ordered Suya grilled beef (fiery) as our appetizer which was super hot but very good!
Taste of Africa with chicken and Red with a twist (chicken) as our main entree.
You can choose the level of spice for your entree and we decided on medium which was a little less intense than the fiery appetizer.
All were very good and filling!

Amazing food and authentic. The food is so great and flavorful. The quality is great and the portions are huge. This picture is from after we started digging in but man can I say the food is just so tasty. Definitely one of the best places to eat when driving through Lubbock.

My son took me and my husband here for the first time. We have never had African food. We are pretty normal American cuisine eaters To say we were surprised was an understatement. Great food! Great service. The spicy was adjustable so no need to worry. We will be back.

Just crusing through from Denton on our way to Pagosa. Had good reviews, always looking to try something new. Reduced menu of about 6 or 7 items for summer. We ordered 5. We all liked it, even the 7yr old. Would return if ever back in the area, try to try full menu.

Went to Vizo’s on a Friday night and immediately got seated. I loved the schrawma and Taste of Africa dish–it’s definitely a lot of food for the price. The meat was very tender. I have never had African before, so I was expecting the plantains to taste similar to Cuban dishes I have had but they were much better at Vizo’s. I’ll definitely be coming back.

The food was amazing, the spices reminded me of traditional Indian cooking, the servers were kind and very enjoyable to talk to. All in all, an amazing place to visit, be warned however, the spice levels are serious, if you cant handle a jalapeno stay with the first couple levels of spice. Also, puff puffs are well worth buying an additional order.
Edit: Near a year later, my family visited again, the puff puffs keepus asking for more, the rice has a nice mix of flavors, and the service makes us smile. I do feel bad about ordering three orders of puff puffs, but when they come 6 for $3, i just cant stop.

We had dinner here around 6:00 on 4/18. We were warmly welcomed and told to sit wherever we wanted. Our server was very kind and did a great job taking care of us during our visit. I started with a nice cold beer. The Mutzig was crisp and refreshing. I highly recommend it. The 33 Export was yummy as well. We got a chicken pie and a scotch egg for our appetizers. They were both so good with spices and seasonings that we were not familiar with at all. You just have to try them. Then for our main course, we got the Taste of Africa and the Savannah Seapride. The chicken was beautifully cooked with more fantastic unfamiliar flavors. The rice was delicious with a red sauce that was bold and rich in flavor. My fish was delicious and full of more wonderful flavors, but if you’ve never eaten a whole fish before, please be very careful to avoid the very small bones throughout. The coleslaw was unlike any coleslaw I’ve ever experienced. It had a wonderful, almost fruity flavor. And the plantains were tender and delightful. Then we had Nana’s cake for dessert. It was amazing. If you like banana bread, then you will love this dessert. Soft moist banana cake topped with creamy ice cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel. Yum! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a good time!
