Wow, start to finish. Service was stunning. We got the Thursday night special. Started with choice of soup, tossed salad or Caesar salad. I got carsar salad my husband got the tortellini soup. The salad was beautifully dressed with rich garlicky dressing and nicely topped tasted great. The soup had a creamy broth with an abundance of both veggies and tortellini. I got chicken parm with pasta marinara and garlic toast. The hand breaded chicken breast was moist and tender covered in sauce and melted mozzarella was just delicious. Pasta cooked just how i like it tossed in sauce that was nice and fresh tasting. The veggies on the side were some of the best i have had in a very long time, grilled not over cooked very fresh. Garlic toast was good. The 1/2 rack of ribs were smoked and you could taste the smoke flavor and a bit of sweetness from the wood, they were tender but had a nice chew still, good bit of bark even on some parts. The sauce was a bit sweet but had a depth to it. The homemade beans were thick and richly flavored had a touch of sweetness from i think molasses and a lot of love added. The corn bread was flavorful and had bits of corn, jalapenos and cheese in it, it wasn’t dry. It did fall apart when we cut it but the taste was really good. My husband doesn’t like cornbread but loved this. The frys were FRESH CUT and wonderfully seasoned, no dirty oil taste either they were so good. We got a slice of banana cake with the meal, it was 3 layers and OMG WOW WOW WOW i would cone back just for the cake, it had an amazing banana flavor not synthetic, the cake was moist, a smooth banana custard on 2 layers. The frosting was a light whipped cream delight that also had a mild banana flavor. Each layer worked so well this was an amazing work of art. We also got a chocolate cake slice to go. It was 3 layers of decadence, a whipped light, fluffy frosting, a moist rich chocolate cake that had a sinful ganache separating the cake layers. Both cakes were luscious and rich with out being overly sweet or sickly. We cant wait to go back.

Had a wonderful lunch here! Our waitress was excellent at helping suggest lunch choices. We both had hot sandwiches served with fries. Both had plenty of meat and toasted perfectly! The fresh cut fries were excellent as well. We shared a piece of strawberry cake(slices are ENORMOUS) and absolutely incredible! Beautiful balance on sweetness and flavor! The best part of the meal was actually meeting the namesake owner Vivian! What a nice pleasure! We will be back and will definitely travel to pick up her cakes for celebrations or just to indulge! Give this excellent restaurant a try, it is very nicely decorated for the holidays and very clean! The staff and owner are fantastic!

We have been a few times for the 2 can dine nights. We’ve tried almost every meal on that special menu and they’ve all been hit, fresh, delicious and huge portions. For $49.99 you get two salads or soups, two entrees and a dessert to share. The cakes are so fresh and delicious. Vivian is a cake genius. These cakes are honestly the best we’ve had. If you haven’t tried this little gem in courtland, you must!! We have only experienced great food and friendly service with visits to our table from the owner!! Great comfort food and a little train too!,

We happened by this gem and is it one of the best buffets we have ever had! The eggs Benedict, their sausage and bacon….by far was amazing and very flavourful! Many different choices and well priced! Brisket and pork and fried chicken and mashed potatoes….all absolutely amazing! Then to top it all off…really great dessert, especially their carrot cake! Buffet is available on Sundays from 10-3 and I even personally got to meet Vivian who was absolutely lovely

Stopped in for first time, the smell was amazing. They smoke their own meats right there, Sundays is a buffet. Which is not what we wanted, not that it wouldn’t have been delicious. We just wanted something small, not aware of Sundays is just the buffet. But the chef made a exception for us. Which was great, so we got a lg ceasar salad, smoked brisket on bun, and chicken ceasar wrap. Everything was totally amazing, our waitress Michelle, I believe her name was. Was also very amazing, the restaurant is not crazy big. But she was very attentive to all her customers, and it was busy. And getting busier as we were leaving. So if ever out Courtland way, you must stop in.

Great location conveniently located on the highway. The food is great and the staff were friendly. I arrived to order off the menu, Not knowing what to expect but it was a sunday.Brunch buffet that did not disappoint it was a bit surprising that there was smoked brisket and pork shoulder. I think they smoked their bacon too or something cause it was great. So I’ll have to come back and check out their regular menu. Items, but I would highly recommend the Sunday brunch.
All you can eat brunch, including coffee for $35.There’s a discount for children and seniors, but I don’t remember the price.

Went for Valentine’s special menu, had the steak/shrimp for both of us. No shrimp was with the meal. ‘Choice of potato?’ We were offered mashed or rice. Ordered a 9oz glass of wine and got a 6oz. Steak didn’t resemble a NY strip loin I’ve ever had, maybe 1/2” thick and grisly and lots of fat. The chocolate cake was the best part. Sorry folks, won’t be back.

Stopped in for late lunch. We were greeted and introduced to lovely Vivian herself. We are from Kitchener and through conversation, the Knotty Pine restaurant came up.
(Butter Almond Cake, Scones, Spinach salad etc).
We decided on Fish n Chips and Pastrami on Rye, both served with Fresh Cut Fries which was all excellent.
The cakes that are fresh baked are second to none. They are mile high in size and beautiful. We treated our selves to a piece of Strawberry , for take out and was not dissapointed.
We will be back!
Note that Vivians is a cash only, however there is an ATM machine on site.
We will be back…need to try the Buttered Almond Cake!
Thanks Vivian
