If you’re looking for an authentic neighborhood dining experience I highly recommend Virgies Restaurant!

The service was great and the food definitely has that home cooking taste. The price is reasonable for the amount of quality food you get. I had beef fajitas and a glass of wine was only $21!

Give Virgies Restaurant a try!

Great atmosphere…laid back and comfortable. The food is wonderful! Best tamales I’ve ever had! My husband loves the beef enchiladas. We ate here 23 years ago on our honeymoon, and we eat here every time we’re in Gallup. We’ve encountered the same waitress for years. And the owner has visited with us multiple times. Great food and great service!

Been here a few times now. New to the town. Toke my family here for lunch dinner. There service has all ways been top notch. Food is great as well. I’m a fan of there red chili for the flavoring and the green chili nicely cook down with great flavoring of the grilling to the simmering smell n the taste of the authentic new Mexican hatch green chili. Clean test room n the facility. Ill well keep coming here for the great taste n the cleanest of the hospitality. Thank you

Stopped in one eveing while passing thru Gallup. Noticed a hand written sign on the door, closing early and we were like 10 mins to when they closed. But they welcomed us in and served us without rushing us out. We actually had one of the best servers Ive encountered in Gallup! I believe her name was Cecelia. She was on top of her game and really knew how to treat the guests. We enjoyed our dinner, service and the hospitality they showed. The food was on point. Hot, Tasty and generous portions.
Keep up the great job…we will definately be back.

Friendly wait staff, great attention to customers with a small town feel! Our drinks never got less than half full before they were topped off. It’s a couple extra minutes off the highway but completely worth the stop!

Authentic! Large, filling portions, wait staff was exemplary. The sauces are all made in house as are the flour tortillas. If you like spice, go for the green chili sauce. Loved the tamales and enchiladas!

Older gentleman at the front desk w/ the hearing aids is so unfriendly & ignores customers upon entering. Pathetic. Food was ” fair ” …my Lord their restaurant sign is so raunchy & old chipped paint, looks 100 yrs old & the outside of their building & lettering needs a paint job. Looks sooo nasty outside. With all the $$ they make it’s Weird that the owners would not invest in making their signs & building look DECENT. Yuk.

My husband ordered tacos, enchilada, refried beans & rice. Sadly the taco shells were store bought pre-shaped processed hard shells. But yet they served a tortilla on the side that was homemade that they quoted they make fresh daily, which was very good other than being served cold. Is enchilada was okay but they took the tortilla and tucked the ends in so it was a very small enchilada. I had a patty melt with green chili sauce and it was very very good. The french fries were weren’t all that great either, they were not cooked long enough they weren’t even brown. The restaurant was very clean, the service was very good. Server asked us if we wanted salsa and chips, we said yes assuming that they were complimentary but they weren’t, they charged us for those.

Walked 2 miles one way to eat there. Worth every mile. A little tequila got me back to the hotel. Live in oregon and if I’m in the area again, I would eat there.

Home cooking at its New Mexican Finest. Really nice staff, homey diner feel, and a pretty extensive New Mexican menu, with mix and match combos. The flour tortillas were made there, and they were fresh, fluffy, thick and pillowy soft, and really excellent with the Mexican-style broth and tomato based beef stew with big chunks of beef, potatoes, carrots, and lots of aromatics. My husband really enjoyed the beef fajitas and the plate has a delicious assortment of condiments to go with the fluffy tortillas and juicy beef. I *loved* the stew, it was super satisfying after a cold, dry long day hiking, and it really hit the spot, perfectly seasoned, and the broth was so soothing.
