I’m new to the area, move down here for work… I was hoping to find a good barbecue spot that wasn’t commercial like Rudy’s or Pappa’s. Found this perfect spot, food is amazing, staff was real cool and helpful. This is a five-star place all day. I’ll definitely be back, thanks for the hospitality!

Stopped by here while I was in the area for work. It was by far the best food I had on my trip. The meat was very tender and very flavorful. My coworker and I could not stop talking about the sandwich. I am a huge fan of hole in the wall and old restaurants. This is location is being saved for my next trip.

Unfortunately, this place was a big disappointment. The brisket was chewy, very gray in color, and mostly fat. It didn’t taste smoked at all — it honestly seemed more like it was oven-cooked or boiled. The sausage wasn’t good either; the texture felt like it was cooked too fast at very high heat, and I had to keep picking out chunks of fat.
On top of that, it was way too expensive for the quality and portion. The restaurant itself looked very run down. The staff was friendly, which I appreciate, but unfortunately I won’t be returning.

I left a review about a year ago. That time I just had a sandwich which was very good, but this time I had a brisket plate. I really like barbecue and have visited the majority of the places that get on the lists in Houston for best barbecue. I’ve never seen Virgie‘s on one of those lists, but it deserves to be! The meat was moist and tender and so flavorful. No need for any sauce. Nothing fancy here, but well worth the visit.

Excellent brisket! I ordered a pound of fatty brisket and it came with 5 massive slices of meat, bread pickles and raw onions and a cup of BBQ sauce. The beef was delicious with the perfect amount of oaky smoke flavor. Definitely worth a visit!

I had the two meat plate with brisket and hot links. Both of the meats are great. I also had two sides – mac n cheese and baked beans. They were both good but I feel like they probably came out of a can.
Overall they’re very friendly and the seating area is perfect. Adrian the cook (and Virgies son) came out and thanked me for stopping by.
If you’re looking for something mom n pops or even just a break away from the big bbq joints this place definitely is worth it.
Four stars only because I feel the sides were from a can.

Hidden gem, family owned business. Adrian makes fantastic, authentic BBQ. The chopped brisket potato is probably the best I’ve ever had. Sausage, ribs, brisket, it’s all made slow and in house. Flavors are great. Highly recommended and appreciated the friendly service.

We went for a take away and had a bit of ribs, brisket and link plus some beans and coleslaw. The smells in the shack were tempting.
It’s a humble abode and not really adequate for families, especially with a 2 month old baby!
Specially good were the brisket, tasty and tender, and the ribs, tasty and a bit dry. The links I wouldn’t buy again.
In all we had a fun meal at home!

I got my food to go so I don’t know much about the atmosphere.. But I can tell you , I had the half chicken plate and it was phenomenal..I will be going back to try more and I highly recommend this dish.. Healthy and delicious. For the most part.. The bean and potato salad was to tasty not to eat.. But it was cheat day..enjoy
