The chicken on the sampler was uniformly excellent. Very juicy and tasty. It also came with 2 lamb chops which were great and also some salmon pieces which were really good! We got it as a platter which included a heaping of rice, hummus, salad, and naan which also was very tasty.
The lamb biryani is very fragrant with good spice and onion flavor. The lamb inside was really tender. It’s tied with Chutneys for my favorite biryani in this area. They are both good at different aspects of the biryani.
I will be coming back to try their indo Chinese cuisine as well!!
I hope this place sticks around the quality will absolutely make it a standout in the area. It is better than any of the places I have tried in PDX (which is not a knock on those places but rather high praise for Virasat)
However …:. Slow…. There is simply not enough waitstaff to handle the floor and the online orders. Still – loved it and we will definitely be back
We got the Aalu Papdi Chaat – absolutely amazing flavors!
Highly recommend coming here! Be patient with waiting on the food. I promise it’s worth it.
Royal Malai Kofta
Palak Paneer
Desi Masala Fried Rice
Lehsuni Naan
They were all delicious! If I had to choose one favorite, it would be the Malai Kofta. My partner’s favorite was the Palak Paneer, and our kiddo loved the fried rice, although we agreed every dish was fantastic! Curry flavors are top-notch. We specified “very little” spice level, and that’s what we got. The service was good too, promptly noticing and bringing another carafe of water when ours ran low. Highly recommended!
Note that while I asked for a “medium” level of spices, what I got was more on the mild side of the spicy spectrum. That’s ok. I have a child who can’t handle the spikes anyway, and the food was absolutely delicious.
Now, for the bad:
– Portions are wrong. The dishes were ~65% of the side they should be. Adequate, barely, but the difference between what I got at this restaurant and what I get elsewhere was really striking. Since so many restaurants use the same to-go containers, the difference is immediately obvious and striking.
– The staff were kind of overwhelmed even though the place wasn’t that busy. I had to wait 20 minutes after my food was ready before I could pick it up because they had the wrong name on my order and didn’t recognize me (I ordered in person, not over the phone).
