Bustling cafe turing out homestyle Creole plates in a laid-back setting with sidewalk seating.

Absolutely fantastic experience!
The atmosphere is wonderful, and the food is both generous and incredibly flavorful. We ordered the gumbo cup (which is actually more like a full bowl) and the crawfish pistolette topped with crawfish étouffée—both were outstanding. Just a heads-up: the broth contains shrimp in both dishes. They kindly apologized for any confusion about that and generously treated my mom to a honey butter bacon chicken on the house.
We arrived at 10:45, and worth every minute of the wait.
We will return very soon!!

WAIT*** Before you go here make sure you have plenty of time to wait and bug spray! I didn’t see the note on the door written on a small piece of cardboard! It was night time when I visited. If you’re hungry this is NOT the place to hurry up and order then be served 10-15min later. The ordering system is ridiculous! We waited an hour before ordering! They will give you a buzzer not for the food, but to place your order, and then an additional wait time is coming. (I was there 3.5 in total) Also there’s no air conditioning, but a strange wind kept blowing! there’s a ceiling fan, but there’s no way in hell that one fan is circulating that entire area. Bottom line it wasn’t hot! The decor reminds me of a old run down apartment including the roaches! which was present when I visited crawling directly in front of me on that old refrigerator by the bar and my wife witnessed the whole thing. Now she’s afraid to eat whatever is coming out of the kitchen, so we had to notify the lady (Jessica) who was cleaning a table right behind us that a critter is on the fridge crawling around. She replied “sorry about that” and preceded to walked away. My wife thought she didn’t hear her so she told her again because the roach was still there in front of us. This time Jessica replied, ” I heard you and sorry about that again” Now that we confirmed that she heard us, and nothing is being done about it. At this point we are not confident in eating at this establishment and food has already been ordered! By this time we’re starving! My stomach was touching my back The portions looked pretty generous from all the passing plates to other customers while we waited for hours. I ordered the Turkey Necks w/collard greens and black beans and my wife ordered the Smothered Chicken w/ butter white beans and sweet potatoes. She tasted some of the food, but didn’t hardly eat any of it (the roach was still there ) The food is heavy on the salt side in our opinion. The conclusion is, we were disappointed and disgusted so there’s no reason for us to return. First and last trip there! Happy Eating or Waiting!

Ate here last year and overall a very cool place. Everything is made fresh from scratch and looked tasty. It was in a Thursday I went and my only complaint was it took 2 hours to get seated and eat.
I understood however good food takes time and they were busy. Whenever you go I would definitely take into account it may take a while.

If you have the time, this is likely the best southern food in the area.
We went when it was not full and had about a 1 hour wait between walking in and getting our food. This is normal here and longer waits are the norm.
Gumbo was fantastic.
Red beans and rice was also really good.
Parking lot can be tight and get full quickly.
Inside is not the cleanest looking place. Floors could use some love. Dark feel didn’t vibe with me but the food made it worth it.

This is home recipes cooked to order. They recommend not coming for a fast meal and that is true, but once they deliver the food you will be very pleased and find it is worth the wait. We walked in when they first opened and our food was all delivered about 50 minutes later. Not everyone got their food at the same time, but like I said, they are home recipes that are made to order so a soup will arrive faster than something fried or baked. When it is ready, they serve it hot and fresh. Portions are quite large. I gave it 4 stars on service since it is a bit different than I am used to by serving a table in a piecemeal manner, so worth it. The music was a bit loud for my liking, and it was hard to carry a conversation, but it would not stop me from eating here again. I would give the food more than 5 stars if I could. Our table of 6 thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

When my friend asked if I wanted to go to a good Creole restaurant, it was a “heck yeah!”
We came on a Tuesday morning with a party of 4, right around 11am which is when they open. We received a pager which lets us know when we can order. While they don’t have alcohol, they allow you to BYO for a corkage fee.
After looking at the regular menu and the one on the wall we got
– Pretzel with crab dip: this also came with a mustard. The pretzel was warm and soft and was delicious with both the dip and mustard
– Bowl of gumbo: Half and crab and half a chicken came with this, allowing for wonderful flavor and presentation. So good!!
– shrimp and grits: cheesy with a lovely sauce with a nice amount of shrimp
– sticky chicken with sides of collard greens and red beans & rice: this came with a habanero sauce and all parts were so tasty! It’s sweet but not too sweet.
Each item is made upon ordering so if you’re looking for a quick lunch, that isn’t going to happen. But! This is worth the wait and if you go during the week, I bet that you won’t be waiting as long as you could if you go on a weekend. I’ve heard, once they are out of food, they are done the day.
The people are very friendly and helpful. They were patient with our questions and were lovely.
We definitely wanted to try more but we were stuffed with what we got. No doubt, the locals will come back soon and as for me, they are bookmarked for me to go back when I am back in town.

Amazing food made to order. Plan on waiting but everything has been wonderful that I’ve tried. My girlfriend got the oxtail and was so good and wholesome. I had the sticky which was the best tasting and perfectly cooked chicken I’ve had. It had an Asian zing to it and was quite a bit of food.

We went to Viola & Agnes yesterday for an early dinner, and it was absolutely amazing! We ordered the jumbo pretzel with blue crab dip and the seafood-chicken gumbo. We weren’t super hungry but wanted to sample a couple of things—and every bite was fantastic.
What really made the experience stand out, though, was the incredible hospitality. The waitress came over and mentioned that the chef wanted to know if the kids would like some waffles or something—his treat! I was floored by that level of kindness and attention.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. We left with full hearts (and bellies!). Definitely a place we’ll be returning to again and again.

Get a table and buzzer and a menu, and they will buzz you when it is your turn to order at the counter! The specials are on the walls, but they keep erasing as you wait for your turn to order. Never fear, the regular menu items are always available and delicious. Portions are huge, so you might consider splitting a meal.

The Gumbo was too salty to enjoy 3/5. The catfish 3.8/5 was fried well ☝ however to be told that ketchup was not an allowed option because it would alter the taste is diabolically insane! The chicken and waffles 3.8/5. Bone in chicken is better in my opinion with waffles. Chicken sandwich 3/5. If a person does not want coleslaw on their sandwich then please allow that option. The greens were too salty 3/5. Empty restaurant and we still waited an hour for our food… Chef Aaron the food has been better in the past…
