The environment doesn’t have that Italian feel even with the decor around but overall its nice and clean. The waitresses are quick to clear and clean the tables as customers leave, allowing for a quick transition to another group.
The waitresses were quite friendly despite being ran hard with the larger parties. Ours was quick to take our drink order and an order for the appetizer, Spinach and Artichoke Dip.
The menu is small and limited but that is perfect as the meals they prep are made fresh at that time, which should make each dish unique. They have a kids menu with a few smaller dishes for them, but at the time they only had one left. I ended up taking a picture of it so not to get rid of their final one, and show it to my daughter.
I ended up ordering the Lasagna Bolonese, the wife ordered Chicken Fettuccine Alla Vodka and my daughter ordered the kids pepperoni pizza. We received a large portion of Salad topped with olives, red onion, pepperoncini, and a creamy Italian dressing. We also received bread with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar mix for the bread.
The salad was great, fresh tasting but could have used a tad more dressing to allow for more even coverage across the whole dish. Otherwise it was a well placed salad.
The bread provided was cold and hard. I was quite disappointed in the appearance and taste of it. Didn’t feel or taste fresh and the cold feel with hard crust told me that is has been sitting for some time. It was also rather small with no flavoring/topping like I would see in most similar establishments. The oil and vinegar mix was excellent dish to use for the bread and had a very well put together look and taste. It was surely done at the time and not something that has been sitting and waiting.
We waited close to 45 minutes before we asked about our appetizer in which the waitress had that dumbfounded look at first and then I seen her go back to the kitchen area in which it sounded like another waitress took our dish and gave it to another customer. Instead of mentioning an error, it arrived maybe 10 minutes later and 10 minutes before our actual food was brought out (which tells me something went wrong considering we ordered that dish as soon as we sat down)
The spinach and artichoke dip has a unique taste that was good but not quite what I was expecting. It had to much a taste of mozzarella rather than spinach or artichoke. It was overpowering and not quite something I’d prefer to order again. The chips were pretty much tortilla chips with salt on them and deep fried to give them a darker look. Honestly didn’t go together as well as maybe a Pita bread or a nice baguette.
The main dishes finally came out roughly a hour from ordering, which is perfectly fine for freshly made dishes and just opening. The Lasagna Bolonese was OUTSTANDING. I’m a cheese lover, so for me it would have used some more cheese, but the tastes and flavors mixed into it along with the meats made this dish a well desired one. For $11 it was a large portion in which I ate half and saved the other for later. By the appearance (one rounded end and 3 squared, cut, edges) it was a 1/4 of the full dish that was prepared. Despite that, it was a very tasty dish.
The wifes dish, Chicken Fettuccine Alla Vodka, was very flavorful with a nicely cooked and moist chicken. The sauce was creamy but not overly thick and the noodles tasted perfectly cooked. It had many flavors flowing through it creating a perfectly match dish that she would order again.
My daughters, child sized personal pepperoni pizza, was made on the spot with what looked to be a hand pulled dough and topped perfectly. The down side I saw when it arrived was it fell apart as if not properly cooked or to much sauce creating a soft dough. The taste however was great for being a child’s dish.
There is plenty of parking outside. There are no steps, so no need to worry about wheelchair access. They may need to add some more seating to the waiting area.
It was a nice space, not too noisy. Long tall tables, booths and regular lower tables and it looks like possibly a room that could be used for private parties. It’s set up with an open kitchen so you can see in to where the meals are being prepared.
Perfect size menu – not huge, but plenty of variety. My party (of 5) had other plans so we went early (5 PM on a Saturday night) and we are glad we did – there was a bit of a wait by the time we left.
Drink and appetizer orders were taken and promptly delivered. There was also bread brought for the table served with the most wonderful ‘dip’ which I would guess was fresh basil, garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.
We had mozzarella sticks and the Arancini (Italian sausage risotto balls) both served with marinara. The salad was served family style, one big bowl, with iceburg and romaine lettuce, red onion, tomato, pepperoncini, black olives, croutons, and Italian dressing – an oil and vinegar based.
Dinners were very good and delivered nice and warm and at the same time. There was a margherita pizza, two orders of chicken marsala, a shrimp scampi, and a chicken picatta. The option of pasta or mashed potatoes was offered. Everything was very flavorful. The portions were enough that everyone except me got take home boxes. And the presentation strikes me as authentic Italian, or at least what I would think of as authentic, rather than an American version of Italian. Pasta was blended with the entrée rather than topped with it.
Everyone also ordered dessert. The menu is short, only three items, of which they only had two, but those two were excellent. I’ve included photos of the tiramisu and the lemon cake (I’m looking forward to trying the crème brulé in the future). My understanding is they will also have cheesecake.
We are very much looking forward to returning.
