I would say average across the board. We went on a Sunday late afternoon and they ran out of all beef related pho, only chicken was available. Sodas were also sold out. I ordered the chicken pho, shrimp tempura as an app and husband ordered the banh mi. The shrimp tempura were overcooked, almost burnt, so the tempura was super, super hard, very crunchy. The pho noodles were a little over cooked. Waited a while for food, server didn’t refill drinks. They charge a 3% credit card fee, but will not inform you in advance and there are no signs. A little annoyed by the lack of communication, would have paid cash if I knew. Based on the whole experience, items not in stock and taste, I rate this restaurant a strong 3 (stars).

We tried the Vermicelli Bowl with chicken & grilled shrimp, the Pho Ga with chicken, and the Stir Fried Noodles with grilled shrimp. They were all delicious and fresh. Recommend ordering the hot tea, too. Vin Bun was voted the Best Vietnamese restaurant in town! We agree.

I ordered pho with cooked beef, as I’ve done many times before, expecting it to be ready to eat upon pickup. However, this time the beef was served raw, raw beef leaked blood into the noodles which was unexpected and disappointing. The order was prepared with raw beef, which was not disclosed at the time of ordering. Writing this complaint regarding a food safety issue at VinBun Restaurant.

Customers ordering takeout should not be expected to cook their own food. If there has been a change in preparation practices, it was not communicated during the order. Customers should never be served food in a condition that could pose health hazards, particularly without clear warning or consent.

This poses a serious health risk, especially for customers who may not be aware that the dish contains raw meat or who assume the food is ready to eat. When I contacted the restaurant to address the issue, the owner abruptly ended the call without offering any resolution.

I believe this practice violates food safety standards and fails to inform customers of potential risks. Proper food handling and customer communication protocols are not being followed.

Pho is one of my all time favorite foods- so much so that for the five years I first lived in Kentucky, I did not stray from my regular shop that I frequent up in VA. That was before I broke and decided to try Vin Bun on a whim about two years ago. I can confidently say, after exploring some of the other offerings in Louisville, Vin Bun is the best pho restaurant we have, and it is a must try if you’re in Middletown. There is a reason it’s so highly rated!

The richness and flavor of the broths and spices are what originally drew me to this shop, but everything here is made with a great deal of love and care (something that shows immediately when you try the food). The beef pho is delicious and the chicken pho is my go-to order when one of my family members is sick. As a chicken wing enthusiast, I would also highly recommend the glazed wings.

I eagerly await the announcement on their Facebook page every Friday to see what the special is for the weekend and HIGHLY recommend doing the same to make sure you know when your favorites are being served (Especially the beef short rib pho) and can stop by while it’s in stock.

Having become somewhat of a regular, I’m happy to say that this quality is consistent across the days and the service is always wonderful. Food is also brought to the tables quickly and at its hottest to make sure you get the best meal possible. It’s a great indicator of a good shop when the employees are happy to talk about the food and even happier to give their own recommendations.

The shop atmosphere is quiet and intimate, but worth noting is decorated by murals made by local artists. It truly feels like the town’s shop loved by the community and not just a random restaurant.

For the food, service, and atmosphere, I give it five stars.

To address the one complaint that I see consistently across reviews (selling out of products), I would like to offer that this is a small local restaurant that is INCREDIBLY popular with its regulars who make a habit of watching Vin Bun’s socials to know when things are in stock and when to go. Definitely take a look at their pages to see what’s available if you’re dead set on trying a specific dish before setting out or order takeout of a dish early to eat later if need be. It’s a good sign that they’re selling out of these dishes, but it’s definitely a bummer to miss out at times!

We came here for lunch when visiting Louisville. We ordered 2 bowls of beef Pho, egg rolls and broken rice dish. Pho was pretty good – flavorful broth, tender beef. However I was disappointed at the grilled pork broken rice dish. Service was pleasant.

Probably the best Pho I’ve had in the area, cant attest for other locations downtown, but by far – the best. Broth is amazing, super rich with such a depth of flavour. I had the Pho combo which comes with rare beef, brisket, beef balls and beef tripe. I kindly requested no tripe or the balls but if they could increase the amount of rare beef, which they were more than accommodating. Im not a huge fan of fatty meat, however, the fat along the brisket was rendered very well – i didn’t find myself chewing for minutes just to eat one piece.

I had such a great experience at this restaurant. The pho was incredibly flavorful — the broth was rich and aromatic, perfectly balanced with fresh herbs and tender slices of beef. You can tell everything is made with care and authenticity. The portions were generous, and the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a comforting meal on a cool day. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu — especially the spring rolls and iced coffee I saw at the next table!

Highly recommend this place if you’re craving real, delicious Vietnamese food.

My literal favorite Vietnamese spot in Kentucky period!!! I’ve been leaving yelp reviews for two years and I don’t know why or how I didn’t leave anything here on google! Shame on me but no more.

The owners are pure magic and just down right wonderful humans who put so much love, pride, and hard work into every single thing they do. From the service to the food to being with the people who walk in through these doors. It’s like coming in the house and everyone is happy to see you and want to make sure you eat and eat well.

Portions are always great and flavors are just everything. Fresh. Authentic.

When I say I love everything I’ve tried. I mean it.

Chefs kiss hit em fives times!
