Unfortunately, the service was where the experience really fell apart. We overheard more than one table asking multiple times about the status of their food. We ordered two appetizers and two entrées, and it took over 45 minutes for the entrées to start coming out. Only one arrived at first, and the appetizers never came at all. By the time the second entrée arrived, my husband had already finished his meal. In the end, we had to cancel the appetizers and one of the entrées(food taste and quality feels overpriced).
The waiter did come over and apologize, explaining that the chef had gone home sick and that the kitchen was struggling because of it. They offered us the sandwich to go at no charge, which we declined, and also offered a $30 gift card for a future visit. We appreciated the gesture but declined that as well and asked them to give it to someone else.
I understand that unexpected things happen, but some communication upfront would have gone a long way. If we had been told early on that service would be slow due to being short staffed, the experience might have been a 3 or even 4 star visit. Unfortunately, based on the décor, food experience, and service issues that night, it’s not somewhere I would return.
THE STAR OF THE NIGHT WAS CHRISTIAN OUR WAITER! He was amazing and attentive even with the large crowd he had to serve. Thank you Christian for amazing customer service. I don’t think this place has happy hour…. If they do we weren’t told about it! Oh and guacamole and chips cost $17 smh! It was a bit pricy for happy hour time. We could have gone elsewhere for cheaper. But we really did enjoy Christian! We won’t be back anytime soon unless there is happy hour pricing!
Ordered the Papas Bravas, Empanadas Chilenitas, Churrasco Philly, and the Birria Tacos. The Papas Bravas were adequately crispy, but slightly underseasoned. They were cut a bit larger than what we were used to, which may have explained why they were a little underseasoned. The Empanadas were delicious. The pastry dough was crispy and well seasoned, while the filling was both meaty and flavorful. The aioli on top just added to the richness.
The Birria Tacos were filled with some deliciously flavorful meat. Like most birria tacos, be prepared to roll up your sleeves because it can get a little messy, but totally worth it. Last, the Churrasco Philly was everything a Philly Cheesesteak should be in a “normal” personal serving size. The meat was seasoned perfectly and matched nicely with the peppers and onions. The cheese added just the right amount of salt and creaminess to tie it all together.
Everything paired nicely with the 2022 Montes Alpha Carmenere we ordered. Definitely planning to visit again when we’re back in town.
Ps. My girlfriend loves the Lomo soltado and calamari
