I ordered the shrimp scampi pizza, a cheesesteak, and a few other items, and everything tasted amazing. There was a bit of a wait, but honestly the food and the staff (and management) more than made up for it. The entire team was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better.
The cheesesteak was packed with flavor, but my absolute favorite was the shrimp scampi pizza. The aroma alone was incredible, and the taste was even better — pure comfort food goodness.
While I waited, I noticed the dishes coming out looked almost like art on a plate. Everything looked and smelled delicious — from pasta and clams to pizzas and more.
What I also loved was the atmosphere. Everyone was being served — children and teens waiting excitedly for their slices, the college crowd, and families enjoying full meals together. It felt welcoming for all ages and occasions.
The staff and entire team definitely make the experience worth the visit. You won’t regret it, especially at such great prices, and the food absolutely delivers.

Village Trattoria in Maplewood exceeded expectations. Acting on a friend’s long-standing recommendation, we indulged in the Buffalo Chicken and Hawaiian pizzas. Each bite was a burst of flavors, from the spicy kick of the buffalo chicken to the sweet and savory blend of the Hawaiian toppings. The crust was perfectly crispy, and the ingredients tasted fresh. It’s evident why our friend spoke highly of this place for so long. Finally trying it was a culinary delight, and we are grateful for the excellent suggestion. A must-visit for pizza enthusiasts!

We used to come for pizza here every Friday night (eat in), back when Angelo was still running the trat – good times.
These days with so many pizzerias around, we try to support all of them, in Maplewood & the neighboring areas.
Tonight we ordered a plain cheese pie and large house salad to go. Got home, tossed the salad and got down to eat it along with the pizza. The salad had rotten cucumbers, so had to toss those. I think if you have cucumbers that are past their time, you should just omit them – I found it a bit gross to have them in my salad.
The pizza was great as always.

We placed a to-go order and we called twice to indicate the pickup time and regarless the pizza was prepared way ahead of time. When picking up I complained the pizza was cold so they reheated it but they gave me back a toasted pizza, bread is horrible and dry. It doesn’t look fresh any more!!!

Their White slice is buttery and simply perfection ; The buffalo slice never disappoints and truly the only pizzeria that’s great from the first bite down to the crust.
Sadly I no longer live in Jersey but when I do return this is the only place to go.

I’ve been coming here for years and it’s still incredible. Village Trat was doing specialty slices many years before it even became a thing. The pizza is absolutely incredible, freshly made, and you can tell there is a lot of care in the food. I’ve brought people who are used to Brooklyn style pizza from living there & they love the pizza here. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff is very caring and provide great service.
