Came Friday at 7:30 for after dinner drinks w my husband. We have been coming for years- since before kids but now once in a while when we can get a sitter. Each got a beer. Walked around. He asked if I wanted to see the attached arcade bc I never had and I said sure. We walked in- browsed what was there, turned around to come back into the main bar where our tab was open and security stopped us asking us to pay. We said we already had drinks- he said yeah, but how long have you been here- we said maybe 1/2 hr, he said yeah you have to pay- maybe if you were here longer I wouldn’t ask. We were at a loss of words- he said are you staying for the band? I said I have no idea (I had no details of it at this time) I said we only have the babysitter for a little while. He said yeah, you need to pay. We saw them set up but left before the band played- I don’t appreciate being put in a position where I already purchased a beer and then was asked to purchase entry 1/2 hr later- so that I could get back to my own tab. Poor experience. Tacky. At that time it was maybe 8pm. Left around 9:20 band slotted for 9:30. We paid $10 to watch people set up a sound stage for two hours. I shouldn’t have had to do anything differently. This is either just a tacky policy or poor training. Maybe both.

Everything was over all okay in the since the security was kind and watchful, the staff was okay. Loud when you first get in but the pool table area is much quieter. I do believe they were overwhelmed at the bar and the female bartender clearly catered to men vs women. A male friend of my made the exact order I did and mine was $20+ more than his. I even asked for a receipt and they refused to give it to me! I also ordered right at last call (asked when I ordered if they were closing and they said no but wouldn’t give a time) and then was kicked out less then 10 minutes later, asking us to either jug our drinks or leave them when I just paid for them minutes before hand. I wasn’t having anyone jug on my watch so $50 were of drinks just wasted. I asked for a refund and was told to leave. Won’t be going back.

Just pasting what I texted the owner and general manager about my experience this evening.

Good evening,

I am a patron at Village Square Tap House tonight. I got this number from the bartender working at the front after my encounter with the security guard.

I arrived early, and I opened a tab in the back. My friends (one male, one female) were playing pool. I set my empty glass on the edge, not realizing it was sloped, and it fell and shattered. My female friend went to the bar to say that there was some broken glass. The security guard whistled at her and handed her the broom, after the bartender said security would handle it. My friend and I had to clean up the broken glass on the ground. From my perspective, that seems like poor tactics from a health and safety standpoint. What if I missed some glass? I’m not willing for it to be my fault that someone else gets injured.

I tried to close my tab at the back bar, and he attempted to charge me a cover even though I had been there for a while. The security guard said he was “in charge” and that this should happen “every time.” I’ve never seen this man before, and I’ve never been halted from getting additional drinks. The bartender at the back seemed to agree that this was wrong for a customer, and she gave me a wristband. I’ll be honest, I rolled my eyes when the security guard stopped me, and he later said that was the only reason he wanted to charge me (where’s the consistency? He also didn’t stop my friends at all?). He said I should get a lawyer because “nothing should happen if I hand you a broom”, that he’d kick me out for discussing this with him, and that I would regret ruining my night.

Additionally, my female friend refuses to come here herself, and she does not feel safe with the security on staff. She has had altercations every time she has been here, and security “sits on their ass” while she gets heckled and insulted.

Update: one of the owners called me childish

Second update: I was told my complaints were minor. Feel free to come if you want to pick up glass or be at risk of being cut on someone else’s! God speed if you’re a female by yourself. The bartenders are fantastic.

I’ve been before, but my fiance and friends were patrons tonight and, on their behalf, here’s what they experienced. My friend knocked a glass over, unfortunately breaking it. My fiance went to the bar and offered to clean up the broken glass to the sweet bartender in the arcade. The bartender volunteered the security guard to clean up the broken glass, so my fiance began walking away. As she did, the security guard whistled loudly and yelled to get her attention, calling her back and said “You make the mess, you clean it up,” and handed her the broom. So I hope y’all wear close-toed shoes, because letting people who’ve been drinking be in charge of cleaning broken glass seems like a liability to me.

I’ll also say, don’t get there too early and start a tab on the pool hall side. If you decide you want to play pinball, you’ll be charged a cover fee to get back once the live music starts, as happened to my friends tonight. When my friend tried to go back and close out so he could leave (since the two sides of the bar dont share tabs) the same security guard attempted to charge him said cover just to go close out.

Decent beer selection, but the staff here are about as unfriendly and unwelcoming as possible. What could be a cool place to hang out is instead a disappointing experience.

This is a very good place to hang out with friends, shoot some pool, throw some darts, and listen to live music. Village Square is at a great location in Clemmons. The place is very clean and well-maintained. The bartenders and servers are very friendly and they have a large number of top-shelf beverage options. I am glad they have live bands indoors on a stage, rather than outside on a patio. I look forward to returning soon! I hope Southern Reload comes back too! Great sounding band.

Traveled from Ga to see some family. They love going to the Tap House, they talk about it all the time. So we obviously had to swing by with them. The service was great, enjoyed my drinks and the atmosphere was very nice. The environment was perfect for a fun exciting night. Especially like that the bathrooms were clean, this is always a game changer for me.
