Village Scoop has been serving Hershey’s Ice Cream in downtown Chimney Rock Village since 1999. After the store was completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene in 2024, Village Scoop relocated to a new building in Chimney Rock and continues to serve up an old-fashioned ice cream experience for the whole family!

As a result from the total destruction wrought by the flooding from Hurricane Helene a year ago, Village Scoop has relocated from one end of town to its present place of business. They serve Hershey’s Ice Cream with a new commitment. I enjoyed their “famous apple cider milkshake”, while my wife liked her two scoops (chocolate mint and cookies and cream).

I was pleasantly surprised to check this place out and find some dairy free ice cream options. They have two sorbets, lemon and raspberry, that are dairy free and vegan. However, the real treat was the chocolate chunk vegan and dairy free ice cream. It was very tasty! The lady behind the counter was super helpful and read out the ingredients to us so we could be sure it was safe. She also let us sample the ice cream. It was quite a treat to find some ice cream. I was certain I’d be disappointed going in but walked away with a happy family after eating some tasty ice cream!

This ice cream shop is AMAZING!! I went here on vacation with my family and I had a difficult time choosing what flavor I wanted. I lowered it down to three. There are so many flavors to choose from you can’t just pick one. I wish I had a ice cream spot like this near my house but unfortunately I stay 4 hours away. Whenever I visit Asheville again I will definitely be coming back to try other flavors. There is also a beautiful river behind the shop that you can visit when getting ice cream.

Great quality ice-cream at really affordable price. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Really polite too. I guess a single scoop is large enough for an ice-cream treat.
