A Bloomington classic, I’ve returned to the Village Deli again and again over the years. The food isn’t particularly unique, but it is good, is served quickly, and portions are plenty big. I know I’ll be back, it’s just a matter of time 🙂

The worst breakfast I’ve ever had. The french toast was basically toasted bread: no batter, no seasoning, nothing. The side of Canadian bacon tasted like it had spent all of twenty-five seconds on the grill. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was delicious but that seems to be all that this place offers in terms of quality. Perhaps I could have ordered something else if the server has bothered to come by and check on us. I’m rather stymied by how popular this place is with such sub-par food and high prices for what you get.

Downtown Bloomington staple breakfast joint know for their pancakes and snarky/fun attitude. In reality, the serverers are fun and prompt and the food really is incredible. Pancakes are huge, THICK, and fluffy. The corned beef hash is home made (not processed). Serving sizes are substantial and we all took food home. Highly reccomend The Village Deli and look forward to stopping back in next visit.

Solid 4. I had the veggie omelette. the omelette had a ton of vegetable in it including mushrooms, broccoli, onion and peppers. But instead of the traditional fluffy omelette, it was a really really thin one – almost like a crepe.

My wife has the pumpkin pancakes and she said they were very good.

This is a great college diner restaurant. I went here for breakfast after the little 500 and the options made it hard to decide. Thankfully I was there with 3 other people so I was able to sample many options. I chose the lox bagel. I was not disappointed. It had every ingredient I would have wanted and tasted devine. The breakfast tacos were also delicious. My partner opted for the turkey sausage which I felt was a better choice for the flavor. I only drank water, but the coffee smelled good. Our server was very nice and on top of our drink refills. I don’t make it to Bloomington too often, but this was a great way to start Sunday morning.

Village Deli is my favorite breakfast spot in Bloomington. The cup of coffee is surprisingly good for a diner environment. The staff is always friendly and quick to serve you. My favorite thing there is the bagel with lox. It has a good amount of salmon and enough toppings too. The cream cheese is not overpowering. I wish they had other flavors of bagels besides plain but the bagel is good. The bacon is always cooked well and tasty. The home fries are some of the best I have had. They are seasoned well and the perfect bite size! Overall a great place for breakfast. There is usually a wait but they are honest with the times.

Allison rocked it! 8 rowdy people (I’m one of them) showed up right when they opened for breakfast and she handled us perfectly :). Great service, fast and attentive. Got the Norwegian Benedict and it was soooooo good. Tons of salmon and hollandaise sauce they don’t skimp. First time here will def come again.

I love getting VD with my friends!!! Great food great prices. And now they have their beer and wine license you can have a beer for breakfast! The sake bloody Mary’s definitely leave something to be desired though it is just not the same don’t even try. Mimosas are on point. Don’t be fooled, even though you don’t see vegan options on the menu there are ways to craft your own vegan flavor adventures.

I am all about supporting local dining. But all the times I have tried this location it always disappoints. Latest, I ordered their Village Burger. Two bites in and I had to put it down. Thick, tough, burnt, and unseasoned. The toppings seemed like they were old and had sat out for days. The tomato was like rubber. Service was exceptionally slow with no attentiveness. I wish I could love this place since it is a staple downtown and locally owned. But they continue to come up short.

They’re known for their pancakes and I’ll say that was my favorite part of my meal. I had the Power Breakfast and my scrabbled eggs were pretty plain, almost too thin. The potato fries were also fine but nothing memorable. My wife ordered the bagel sandwich which also was fine. Overall nothing memorable. I did like the outdoor seating and our server was great.
