This place was a hole in the wall dive bar more than a restaurant. The ambiance is not great and the place does not seem very clean.
It’s also awkward when you walk in right into the bar.
The Mexican food was lackluster and not worth the price we paid for it.
As someone else mentioned the margarita was not good at all and was neon green in color.

Service is good. Food is good. However the margs and guac are not good. A marg is not sour mix and tequila. A marg is lime juice, agave, triple sec or orange liquor and tequila. I get that the bosses are trying to be efficient but then pre mix the other stuff. Don’t use sour mix. The bartender did say that if we want a marg the right way we can just ask next time but that shouldn’t be a special request, that should just be the standard.

Look forward to coming back when the margs are redone.

Best Mexican spot in town. If you want more authentic Mexican, this is it. If you’re looking for americanized, this isn’t it. Everything is fresh, the prices are reasonable, the food is delicious The mole sauce is to die for, especially with their enchiladas. Same with the green sauce. The salsa is made fresh every day and it tastes amazing… sometimes it has a little kick to it but other days it doesnt. I love when I go and it has some heat to it.. it tastes better. You really can’t go wrong. Alot of people don’t even know this place is here.. hidden gem! I don’t get to go often but when I want Mexican this is where I’m at. Been coming here for 10 years and I can never ever just order one thing carne con Chile is so yummy if you like spicy Guisado de Puerco is also one of my favorites.

One of my favorite restaurants period in Cleveland and definitely the best Mexican restaurant here. A lot of people think there is no authentic Mexican food between Chicago and New York, but not only is the food authentic here, it is reliably a place where you can actually hear the people you’re eating with and not be in an otherwise overwhelming, busy, exhausting environment. The wait staff are friendly and helpful. I consistently pick Villa y Zapata when I want to go out to a place that is consistent in terms of all of these factors.

Great local Mexican spot.
Frankly having grown up in the Southwest most midwestern Mexican disappoints at best, Villa is not the same.
They offer a good selection of well made, quality food and free chips and salsa.
I’d certainly recommend giving them a try!

The food is fantastic! The Margaritas are so good . Real ingredients not just a sour mix. They sneak up on you . Been going here for years . Authentic homemade food . Sampled just about everything and not a bad dish.

Authentic Mexican food Delicious. Very tastey, not overly seasoned or salty. My brother and I love the beef burrito with rice and beans on the side. Just simple great food

Salsa was good. The chips fresh and crispy. Queso was cold. Rice was bland. Beans were flat and vegan.
Sadly the Chimichanga(my first in 30 years
Last 1 was at a Chi Chi’s ) was super bland. Rolled oddly. The shredded beef was bland and a bit tough.
Everything looked pretty, but so bland except for the salsa. Server was very nice and attentive. Having lived in SoCal and went to cooking school I can make better at home. Won’t be returning.

No…no guys, just no. Listen, I rate based on food only.

Okay, the chips were cheap, thick not great. Salsa was very spicy, needed more cilantro, but not the worst I’ve ever had.

The queso was terrible and shameful… think it’s made with Velveeta?

The meat was moist, but rest of food lacked flavor.

No way we would return.

Service was good.
