This was a surprisingly disappointing experience. We had high hopes given the reputation of the place, and before we even arrived we had some great service from the host that evening who called us personally to ask about whether or not we still wanted to come to the restaurant (we totally misread the 24 hour clock and made our reservation for the wrong time). Once we got to the restaurant Lukas was just as warm and inviting in person as he was over the phone. Unfortunately, this was the peak of our experience at Villa Schweizerhof.
Once we got seated our actual waitress was extremely cold and didn’t seem to have any interest in guiding us through the menu or making any small talk. I can’t tell if this was because of a language barrier (she seemed to speak English reasonably well) or a general dislike of tourists, but either way her cold demeanor was off putting and not appropriate for a restaurant of this caliber.
My partner and I both ordered a 5 course meal (hers was vegetarian and mine was not). The courses themselves were extremely slow to come out, to the point where we actually ended our meal early and told them to cancel our last remaining course as we did not want to be stuck at the restaurant for over 3 hours. Normally it would be fine for a meal at such a nice venue to take a while to come out, but each of the courses we had was extremely underwhelming. Almost as if the chef had been trained at some high end restaurant but currently lacked the staff, ingredients, or resources to actually pull off the high end recipes. The food looked appetizing but every single course we had lacked flavor, seasoning, and quality. Fish that was tough to separate with a fork, steak that was rubbery, flavors that were just not exciting. Food this expensive and this showy should not be this bland.
Hopefully this review can serve as a warning for those who are visiting Lucerne and are drawn to this place by the view or the surprisingly high reviews thus far. Save your time and money and go elsewhere! Especially if you have a limited time in Lucerne.

Booked the restaurant based on the high review. We were disappointed with the service of the restaurant after visiting so many restaurants at Switzerland. When the salad was served, while we said prior that the salad will be shared by my wife and I. They did not proactively ask and give 2 separate dishes to share and we have to ask for it. Finally, there was a lady brought the shared dishes over after we asked but without smile at all. Secondly, after the waitress served the water for the first round, they never came back to check the water and we have to standup and walk to the place where the water was and grab the water bottle then walk back to our seat to pour the water ourselves since it was a long table. I saw those waitress were talking to each other and were not busy at all at that time but just ignoring us.

Such a calm and welcoming atmosphere, with genuine hospitality and elegance.
The food was great, we could appreciate the thought and unique taste from every dish.

The entrance to the restaurant is not on the lake side, but the road side from a small gate. It is inside a really cute villa w lake view, summer would be even better to be able to sit outside. The food is very good but the menu is relatively small. It is a beautiful place to stop by for lunch.

Great tasting menu (we did the 4 course). Going early ensures a quieter start to your meal. Staff was very attentive and accommodating. Restaurant is very child friendly as there were multiple children and strollers. Staff was able to provide small cups and smaller meals for kids. No dress code that is posted but dressing nice seemed to be the norm

We celebrated our wedding at Villa Schweizerhof, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was great. The location is stunning! exactly what we envisioned for our special day.
The venue had plenty of space for all our guests, and it’s definitely kidfriendly, which was a big plus for us. We truly appreciated the staff’s help and support throughout the event.
The only challenge we faced was during the planning process. Communicating with the staff via email was a bit tricky, especially when we decided not to go with the full package (from the Trauung until the dinner reception).
It felt like things became unnecessarily complicated once we opted for a different arrangement.
However, we’re glad everything worked out in the end!

I went to Villa Schweizerhof with a friend from the US. It was her last evening before going back and we couldn’t have been going to a better place!
*EVERYTHING* was just perfect! I mean, really EVERYTHING!
•Reservation: It started with calling the restaurant for a reservation. We had to cancel it one time and came the other day and the waiter was very kind and patient.
• Welcoming by the waiter – warm and welcoming
• Arrangement of food – stylish and with love at the same time
• Quality if food – very high standard
• Healthy food options
• Taste of food – delicious and excellent, prepared on point
• Ambiente and music – gentle in the background as you would expect it from high standard places
The lead waiter Lukas and waitresses did an excellent job, they were highly attentive yet not intrusive, they knew their business and were patient with our questions. You had the impression they enjoy doing their job. The best food is not delicious if the setting does not align. Yet here, my friend and me had an extraordinary great evening!
I would give 10 stars if that would be possible. It’s a great place for celebrating life and I will come back!

We wanted to have a nice meal begore we up to the mountains and hiked. Villa exceeded all expectations!! Gorgeous setting (and wonderfully warm night), charming service and oh the food!
The amuse Bouche was a smocked salmon, dill and creme. I wanted 5 more! We both had Celery and Oear soup was delicious. We also both had the rabbit. Devine! I had the Spaetzel as my entree and it was delicious with the mushroom sauce. Husband had Venison (called Dear!) with mushroom sauce. We had the wine pairings. I took photos of the two we really enjoyed. Would recommend to anyone wanting a less touristy (heard only German) experience. We took the 8 bus to and walked back. Very accessible.
