Part of the 2026 Mardi Gras bar crawl and was such a vibe. We got a dozen roasted oysters a small cup of thier crawfish etoufee and gumbo. Both were amazing. The king cake was also homemade and was great.

VIEUX CARRE Bistro is situated in the Municipal Market, where parking may range from $5 to $20. As a soul food restaurant, we had a clear expectation of what to anticipate. The food offered was indeed hearty and delicious. Every staff member we interacted with was exceptionally friendly and cheerful, providing excellent Southern hospitality and customer service. The entrees are served buffet-style. The standout dishes included the turkey wing and fried chicken wings, both wonderfully seasoned and cooked to perfection. The turkey gravy was the best I’ve ever had. The portions are generous, making it a worthwhile dining experience.

We used Vieux Carre Bistro to cater a large family event. We had several catered meals throughout the long weekend, but my family continually raved about the food from this restaurant. I appreciate that the restaurant recommended a menu based on the dietary considerations I needed to navigate. The chicken pasta was the clear favorite and a must have recommendation. Other favorites were the blackened salmon and fried chicken wings. When it came to service, the owner was very flexible when it came to pick up, patiently waiting to provide curbside loading for our courier. Overall, we were very satisfied with the food, service, and value for this catering order and will definitely use them again.

The sides were good but the fried catfish probably needed to be cooked longer. Catfish meat is supposed to be white when fried, this was translucent.

They set up at an event, charging $35 a plate of 12 shrimp and rice. It was going to be less shrimp than that, but after I stated that my plate looks nothing like the sample on display, another scoop of shrimp and sauce was added. Sensed a bit of an attitude, looked like teenagers serving.
Definitely would not seek them out after this experience as I feel the plates were extremely overpriced compared to their in store menu!

Got the red beans and rice but came for the gumbo. Beans aren’t seasoned well. Definitely not authentic cajun. Said maybe next week on the gumbo.

Not my first time having lunch here, first time I had a customer service issue but the catfish was okay, this time I was given Swai Catfish instead of regular farm raised catfish. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND WILL NOT RETURN

The guy fixing the food and taking payments stole from us today. As I was tapping my card he proceeded to take the device and put his own tip. When I mentioned I wasn’t done he said “oh it’s ok, we don’t print receipts” I could have texted or emailed the receipts. I kept track of the total because the interaction didn’t feel right and sure enough he stole our money!!
