The decor and vibe is great.
Drinks were refreshing. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Shaking beef was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked steak full of flavour and juicy
Aromatic grilled fish was delicious, full of flavour
The beef pho was OK, it was lacking depth of flavour and beef was too overcooked, it usually is served with raw beef and loads of coriander and chillies, it didn’t have any of that… A bit disappointing
The summer rolls were lacking coriander and mint, it really didn’t have any flavour at all… This one was disappointing too
We had the Roast Duck Orchard which was very good and refreshing. We ordered the rice noodle as a add on, came separately but would have been better if it was added into the salad.
Banh Mi was nicely done too with freshly baked bread. Summer roll was refreshing but portion was a bit small for $16.
Vietnamese ice coffee was really good! Bitterness and sweetness really blend well.
A lot of currys and soup dishes.
The Vietnamese Cooffeee is strong and I really recommend it.
I asked for extra lemons and they provided. Would recommend this place.
First impressions were great. The aesthetic was spot-on—trendy, vibrant, and clearly inspired by Vietnamese culture. It had a modern, welcoming vibe that made it a nice place to settle in for a meal. Service was another highlight: the staff were friendly, attentive, and really accommodating, making sure we were well looked after throughout our visit.
However, when it came to the food, things didn’t quite live up to expectations. I ordered the pho, and while it was decent, it wasn’t anything that stood out—and at $30 for a bowl, I really expected more. The portion size wasn’t particularly large, and the flavour, while good, wasn’t anything memorable. For the price, it just didn’t feel like great value.
A couple of my mates ordered the dry pho and said their dishes were a bit better, so it might have just been my choice that missed the mark. Maybe some of the other menu items shine a little more.
Overall, VietFlames is a nice spot if you’re looking for a cool atmosphere and good service, but based on my experience, the food quality and value could definitely be improved—especially if you’re used to more authentic or heartier Vietnamese options elsewhere.
I’m still glad I gave it a go, but next time I might try something different off their menu or check out another Vietnamese place around town.
