We absolutely loveddd everything! I love how the spring rolls are so peppery. The lamb was the highlight for me, goes to my top list! It was so soft inside like incredibly soft and juicy from deep frying to lock the flavors in is geniusss. My least favorite was the fried rice i was so looking forward to it cause i was craving sum asian fried rice but then it reminded me a lot of a Filipino sweet delicacy that also has coconut cream and i thought that it was just a weird combination and did not completely expect that. Anyway that was my fault for not checking the description for ordering but otherwise everything was amazing!

Dropped by for lunch and the food was delicious. We ordered Pork 3 ways and the Golden rain chicken. The pork was nice but a little on the saltier side. We dipped the vermicelli in the pork broth which made the vermicelli have a bit more flavour. The chicken was nice and crispy, juicy and tender. The salad on the side really balanced it out. We would definitely come back to try other dishes.

The food overall was average, the pho didn’t really taste like anything. Had better pho and paid less for it.

The decor and vibe is great.

Drinks were refreshing. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The vibe is nice, however food is average. Definitely not ‘wow’ as what I’ve seen some people raving about online. Got the chicken phō, the chicken was inconsistent, some nice and soft some bits were dry and tough, stock was just standard not amazing. My friend got the beef phō and agreed it was very average, she only had 1/10 of it. When we asked for a takeaway bowl the lady said that’s an extra dollar. And paper carry bag is another extra dollar. So keep in mind and bring your own container if you are planing to take home what you can’t finish. Definitely not a place I’ll return to

This is a beautiful restaurant, amazing service and great food.

Shaking beef was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked steak full of flavour and juicy
Aromatic grilled fish was delicious, full of flavour
The beef pho was OK, it was lacking depth of flavour and beef was too overcooked, it usually is served with raw beef and loads of coriander and chillies, it didn’t have any of that… A bit disappointing
The summer rolls were lacking coriander and mint, it really didn’t have any flavour at all… This one was disappointing too

Nicely decorated Vietnamese restaurant with lots of nostalgic posters and photo. Food was very nice and refreshing.

We had the Roast Duck Orchard which was very good and refreshing. We ordered the rice noodle as a add on, came separately but would have been better if it was added into the salad.

Banh Mi was nicely done too with freshly baked bread. Summer roll was refreshing but portion was a bit small for $16.

Vietnamese ice coffee was really good! Bitterness and sweetness really blend well.

I had the Beef Pho which was $23 (which is a bit more on the pricier side compared to other Vietnamese places). The broth was nice, and portion was quite decent. Great service too and environment.
I asked for extra lemons and they provided. Would recommend this place.

the first Vietnamese spot I visited during my trip to Auckland, and I had high hopes walking in.

First impressions were great. The aesthetic was spot-on—trendy, vibrant, and clearly inspired by Vietnamese culture. It had a modern, welcoming vibe that made it a nice place to settle in for a meal. Service was another highlight: the staff were friendly, attentive, and really accommodating, making sure we were well looked after throughout our visit.

However, when it came to the food, things didn’t quite live up to expectations. I ordered the pho, and while it was decent, it wasn’t anything that stood out—and at $30 for a bowl, I really expected more. The portion size wasn’t particularly large, and the flavour, while good, wasn’t anything memorable. For the price, it just didn’t feel like great value.

A couple of my mates ordered the dry pho and said their dishes were a bit better, so it might have just been my choice that missed the mark. Maybe some of the other menu items shine a little more.

Overall, VietFlames is a nice spot if you’re looking for a cool atmosphere and good service, but based on my experience, the food quality and value could definitely be improved—especially if you’re used to more authentic or heartier Vietnamese options elsewhere.

I’m still glad I gave it a go, but next time I might try something different off their menu or check out another Vietnamese place around town.

Absolutely fantastic. Flavourful, fresh and well executed. Highly recommend the slow cooked ribs, prawn dumplings, banh mi, and calamari with hot green chilli sauce!
