All three dishes were delicious. The pho has plenty of soft and tender brisket meat. The broth was clear and very flavorful. The mango salad was just as tasty. And OMG the banana dessert was perfect. My wife is diabetic and she wants to get a second serving. Overall, we highly recommended VietThao ( the name of the owner’s parents) if you are looking for authentic Vietnamese foods in Vienna. Thank you Thúy and Phước for a delicious dinner.
PS. We came back twice afterward for lunch and dinner. The banh xeo was very good. But the heo quay was the best.
A perfect dinner for chilly Vienna in March. Had the beef pho- amazing, comparable with what I had in Ha Noi
The food took quite long to serve, but definetely worth the wait. The waiter is so polite and accomodating
And this is coming from a Southeast Asian person. It was big and crispy as it should. I’m so sad to see this is temporarily closed, does anyone have any update?
One reason is the food which is very delicious, savoury and visually appealing!!
The other reason is the host/waiter who is very welcoming, hospitable, charming and funny. He explained everything about the food and how to eat it.
The price is also quite reasonable. Everything is super clean, and it’s done with much love!!!
We will definitely come back here next time we are in Vienna.
After 2 failed attempts (due to fully booked evenings), I finally got a chance to dine at Vietthao on April 8. I showed up at the restaurant excited, and even said ok to sitting outside in the cold, as there were no seats available inside. Ordered the crispy pork belly bun xao and a drink. After waiting for what felt like an eternity (the dish requires barely any cooking, so he probably forgot about me being outside), I was disappointed by the food. It looked alright, but the crispy pork belly was more like dry pork fat + scraps, and the noodles were stuck together. I might return for a second try in the far future.!
I had a BÚN CHẢ VIẾT THẢO and it was really good!! I tried both dessert options and I really liked the CHÈ CHUỐI KHOAI MÔN, but this is a matter of preference!
Also, give it a try to the mango salat, it’s a mix of bland sweet, salty and spicy!
Would definitely recommend the Banh Xeo and mango salad.
