Ive heard of this place from other recommendations but found it hard to ever visit because they are not open on weekends. After ordering the pho for dinner takeout it has me believing that this place is probably best for a fresh hot lunch and dining in. I was a little disappointed my pho did not come with any greens, just sprouts. The flavor was there, I was just not as blown away as I thought I would be. Definitely want to try to order a bahn mi in the future to see how that is!

The owner is and entire staff are so incredibly kind and nice!! Some of the nicest people i have ever met! I accidentally dropped my wallet and needed it for a flight, and they drove off hours to give it to me!
On top of that, their pho and seasme balls are the best ive ever had!! And at such an amazing price, definitely my favorite restaurant in Roanoke!

Amazing food! Best Bánh mì in town. This is the only place I will order a sandwich with zero meat and really enjoy it. The French bread is always fresh and veggies as well. Pretty decent bowl of pho as well. The guy who runs it is super friendly, never seen him in the hundred plus times I’ve been here in the last 7 years without a huge grin on his face. Excellent place to get a bite.

Surprisingly good. The bahn mi is on point. Hell, all the food is on point. Staff are direct. Friendly enough. The place is no frills even in décor which is also surprisingly nicer than I thought it would be. Loving the lack of appropriated cultural decor or loud music played on a loop while my face is trying to enjoy the food. I knocked a star because the location sucks. but get past that and you’ll have a great meal at a deserved price

Surprised I finally got to try this place bc they’re closed on weekends. What?!
Based on other people’s many accolades about this food I was excited but it was just a basic sub. Nothing special. I appreciate they offer tofu but it’s fried & bland instead of marinated & sautéed.
Dumplings were mushy & inedible to me but husband liked them.
For the vegetarians: It’s Pho Time offers veggie broth instead of beef in their pho. And more plain fried tofu but it’s at least an option.
Probably won’t return especially since it took me a year to make it during the week.

Great food, traditional and non-Americanized. Service is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend the bahn mi and pho. (Especially as the weather cools down)
Not much seating room, but there is a small outdoor area for nice weather days. The establishment itself is a bit dated and could use some renovations but it surely doesn’t affect the taste of their delicious food. Maybe the best pho in town, and “The Beast” Banh Mi is a MUST.
We order take-out from here as well, everything is always fresh and well prepared. Prices are fair, best for a lunch time visit / early afternoon.
**Does get busy in the evenings. And around lunch time. Call and order ahead or be prepared to wait for take-out. They do well to keep up with a high demand in a small establishment.
Check hours. Sometimes not open on random days.
Cafe su da is a bit sweet for my taste, and they do pre-mix so you don’t have an option to reduce the condensed milk amount. A must try if you appreciate a sweeter coffee!

I’ve been to this place many times. The owner are great people. Viet Sub has many offerings. I enjoy their fresh baked bon mi bread! You don’t have to order a traditional Bum mi, you can order a turkey, ham and cheese. I have enjoyed this place for many, many years. The location is just as convenient as Wendy’s next door! LOL PS The owner goes to Viet Nam in February to visit their family, so their store is closed for 2 weeks in February.

This is an adorable, compact, and welcoming Vietnamese restaurant in Roanoke. The cashier is such a friendly soul. Good, fresh food at a fair price. I do wish they’d allow you to add extra noodles (it’s on the menu, but it’s not permitted for the pho), and I wish the spring rolls used something other than iceberg lettuce. Other than that, everything is great, and the employees work hard. This is a gem for the area.

Veit Sub is hands down the best spot for pho in Roanoke. Every time I’ve gone in for lunch, the experience has been consistent, no long waits, quick service, and food that always hits the spot. Their pho, especially the beef pho, is flavorful, comforting, and just what you want from a bowl of soup. The broth is rich and aromatic, the noodles are cooked perfectly, and the portion sizes are generous enough to leave you satisfied but not overstuffed. It’s the kind of meal that makes your belly feel good, especially on a chilly day.
I noticed some reviews mention the subs, with one person calling them basic. To be honest, I can’t speak to the subs because I’ve never ordered them, but I can say without hesitation that the pho is top-tier.
What I also appreciate is the atmosphere. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and never overcrowded during lunch, which makes it an easy choice for a midday break. Veit Sub has become my go-to spot in Roanoke when I’m craving authentic Vietnamese flavors.
