Authentic pâtisserie ! I would say only the pricing is American because it tastes as good as in France . The location is great since its downtown Rockville, the cashiers and bakers are very knowledgeable of their products. A great franchise !

Vie de France has incredible appeal on the outside but, unfortunately, its food and pastries look more appetizing than they actually are. The food doesn’t taste bad by any means, it just doesn’t quite meet my expectations. (Having said that, I am not French, so I am not the right judge on authenticity.) The croissant was buttery on the outside but not on the inside, nor was it flaky; it had more of a bread-like texture (see pic). The mini baguette had the same texture but with a hard crust. Finally, the chocolate cake and mousse was not as sweet as a typically chocolate cake and mousse. Usually, I appreciate that but here it seemed a bit too muted. Otherwise, clean store, good staff, and appealing store front.

Yummy pastries and friendly service. Also, if they don’t give you a receipt, your purchase is free. They have a relatively small selection here, but the quality is very good. My sister got a Napoleon and it was soft and tasty. Their chocolate almond croissant could have a bit more filling, but otherwise very good. Would come here again.

If you’re in the mood for danishes or croissants, you should consider this place! The bread looked so tasty, and the sweets my partner and I bought were delicious, with unexpectedly refined flavors. The croissant-wrapped hot dogs are great and juicy, and would be a good choice for adults and picky kids alike. The only downside is that it’s somewhat expensive, but it all definitely seems fresh and carefully prepared. If you’re in the area, consider Vie de France!

The coffee was good but a bit over priced for what I got. But the kicker was the orange cake. It looked beautiful and the concept of a chocolate shelled layer cake is great. BUT, the sponge was dry, there was no orange flavor, and it was freezer burned. I’d say the flavor was 60% freezer-burn, then very bland. If the owners read this, it is not personal, and the staff was helpful and friendly, but the food did not seem fresh and lacked flavor.

I wanted to like this place but it looked particularly dirty and given that we are in a pandemic right now that is unacceptable! Bread products aren’t that great. They are average. The sweets are better. Many of the things are overpriced. The turnover is very high here and the people aren’t particularly friendly. I’ve seen a different person working here every single time.

**This is a little bakery cafe that offers take out only, meaning that there’s no dining tables inside** Variety of selections including croissants, cookies, brownies, cakes, and salads. They have the best sugar cookies in the world, although they get sold out so quickly that there usually aren’t any left if I go in after 3-4pm. Delicious macarons for a good price too!(6 for 10 :). they used to be too hard sometimes, but now they are soft like they were just made)

Went in to buy a baguette…their contactless card reader didn’t work, the chip reader didn’t work, tried to pay cash and they said to wait, and the cashier left. No explanation. Stood there for 3 minutes waiting. You couldn’t just manually figure out the cost and give me change? It shouldn’t be so hard to make a purchase. I’ve been here a couple times previously and the staff has never been friendly or professional. I will never go back and do not recommend.
