This is a really nice place to come for a real home cooked meal . We have been coming here for many years and the food has been, overall, consistently good. Lots of lunch time traffic here for lunch so be prepared. The only thing I see that is falling off a bit is the floor service. Slow on tea refills, floors could be a little better kept. Nuff..

We’ve lived here for 4 years and never even noticed this place. My husband and I had gone on a Seniors outing with church. This was a suggestion brought up and we all agreed. It is a Southern home cooking style buffet line – with lots of desserts! (The carrots cake was very good!) There were 6 in our group and something for everyone. The restaurant is old – as in been there many, many years! Limited hours – which makes the dishes they make very good. Very clean even if it may look a lil outdated. Service is excellent! One of our ladies was using a cane and without the need to ask for help – a young lady working there got her drink and carried her tray. That’s great service! And there were several who came by to check on us to see if we needed anything and such.

I didn’t even know about this place until the other day. I decided to give it a try. OMG! Food was amazing! I will definitely go back and are already telling others.

We got there around 11:30. It wasn’t too crowded. The food was good. Wasn’t very noisy and we could carry-on a conversation without talking loud and that is an important factor in enjoying a meal.

By far the best southern country meat and veggies around! I eat here at least once a week. Do not hesitate to give it a try.

I could be wrong but the country fried steak seemed like it was made in house. Most places these days drag them out of the freezer straight off the US Foods truck (I see you Huddle house). The interior has improved since my last visit but the floors still give that greasy spoon 1960’s vibe. Typical meat and 3 sides but very well done. Ten bucks out the door with a water and that’s very fair in today’s economy when a $5 footlong is $12. Hometown friendly people that have been doing good work for as long as I can remember. They close at 2:30 pm most days.

I wish I could meet Victoria herself (LoL), or alternately, if she’s reading this, so I could express to her what a treasure of a place this is–something people who are not from outside of here might not realize…just how far and few in between places like this are: a down home style salt of the Earth vibe spot chalk full o’charm. Is it outdated as the day is long and showing its age? Yes. Does that characterize or take away from the experience any less? Not only no, but it enhances things in my opinion. Delicious southern food cooked and served from friendly staff (nice manners, even the bussers were hustling AND helping elderly patrons carry their trays to the tables!) in a jammed packed dining area (and parking lot)…esp the after Church crowd. I could people watch here all day long–everybody knows everybody there, a real locals’ locale. I wish this place continued success and love seeing it supported over say a franchise establishment with a sterile environment. Thanks Vicky! P.S. would have taken more inside pics but did not see a single cell phone out much less being used the entire time during my meal and didn’t want to ruin that vibe–again, a people place through and through which is very palpable.

All in all this place in my opinion is about as mediocre as it comes. I’m pretty sure it’s hyped up bigger than deserved due to the fact that it’s a one of a kind of place. After standing in line for half a hour just to pay $5 for a slice of peanut butter cake that was so dry it would choke a fish and $48 & 70 something cents for a meal that consisted of 3 dried out chicken fingers, green beans out of a can, a wet & soggy roll, and dried up chicken dressing with 3 times the sage it needed, and a mello yello for me and a meal for my mom consisting of the sahari dressing, a chicken breast that was so hard she couldn’t eat, some mashed potatoes w/watered down brown gravy, & a slice of wet, soggy orange cake & a watered down sweet tea i’m pretty sure i could go the rest of my life without ever feeling the need to go back for a meal especially since the cashier/ co-owner had the manners of an undisciplined step-child so to speak. The best thing i can say for the place is some of the staff were super friendly & seemed to have super positive attitudes & just happy to be helpful. Oh and don’t forget that not once before you are seated will you speak to a worker at all so anything you know about how things are done or priced is something left up to you to figure out on your own.
