This was such a wholesome restaurant! The service was above and beyond, thank you Craig for taking care of us, you were excellent! My fiancé and I had just had our engagement photos and this place was the perfect cherry on top of our day. The food was delicious and tastes like a home cooked meal! We recommend the lamb hands down! We also loved the escargot, then finished with the crème brûlée which they have kept the same recipe for years. Delicious! My tummy wasn’t feeling the greatest for the week prior, so I enjoyed the Caesar salad and minestrone, which was just what I needed. But the highlight for me was meeting Bob, who has also been there since day 1 of this restaurant. 45 years of working for this place shows how much they care for their employees as well as their customers. Would HIGHLEY recommend

We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. James was our server, hehad been working there for 40years. His passion to helping customers was admirable. We ordered the table side Caesar salad, Pork Chop, Muscles, and Sea bass Wellington. James really made our night as he expertly prepared our Caesar salad. He really engaged with his customers and always checked on us; most importantly he did not overwhelm us. It was our special get away and this experience really made our night. Food was incredible. Perfect pork chop and excellent Sea Bass. Caesar salad was certainly the show as it tasted incredible. I look forward to returning to this restaurant. Big Thank you to James for an amazing time.

This place is very old school dining and has that 70s/80s charm. Food is high calibre, I had the crab cakes and the seafood croute. Salads are voluminous, and I enjoyed my cocktails.

Work dinner with client, they suggested this place.

Friendly staff, service was excellent

Food was great, the rib eye was very good, cooked to perfection, well seasoned

The atmosphere was great as well, they maintained the decor very well, looks like antique, not sure if they are from day 1. Very good vibes

My girlfriend and i chose this restaurant tonight as the menu was appealing to both of us and it was down the way from the empress where we are staying. We are only here for one night.

We were pleasantly surprised by this establishment. Not packed and a pleasant pace. It was a quiet setting where we could actually hear ourselves have a conversation.

Drinks were quick, they were standard.

The food came out relatively quickly and was cooked exactly how it should be.

We ordered the table side tenderloin, it was perfect.

The real shinning star here in our experience was Bob. The experience he created for us and the other tables dining was amazing. From his gentle humor and jokes, to his pairing suggestions and recommendations. It was a 10/10. Would NOT hesitate to come back.

He took the time to educate us and answer our questions about the restaurants history and his involvement with it. 46 years he has served here! Just amazing. Thanks again Bob!

If the owner reads this, please make sure Bob is well taken care of.

Fine dining prices but definitely not fine dining- over priced for mediocre food and lacklustre atmosphere.
Our party ordered a range of appetizers, meat and fish entrees, and a pasta. None of the dishes would be rated above a 5/10 with the expectation of the French onion soup. At this price point you would expect the plates to be plated well with a reasonable sized and flavourful side, but what were received was what can only be compared to a mid-level self serve wedding buffet. While the chicken and fish were cooked well they were lacking in flavour. The gluten free pasta, was fine but nothing you couldn’t get at a low level Italian restaurant for half the price.
Gluten Free beware: while the restaurant says they offer gluten free options the majority of the menu is not available due to the use of gluten in the cream sauces. They said the minestrone soup was gluten free but it had pasta in it, so we had to send it back.
The restaurant’s claim to fame is that it has been around for 45 years, and it doesn’t seem like they have made any upgrades/ changes in that time. The dated wood and worn out carpet made it feel cheap not purposefully vintage or charming. While the wait staff were friendly that is about it. No signs of high level service (eg. runners so plates are all set at the same time, table wasn’t ready for reservation time, overall felt like they were short staffed). The “view” was definitely nothing special considering all the other options in the area, it was set pretty far back from the water and harbour buildings blocked most of the water view.
Overall, our party said this was the worst meal of our trip and yet the most expensive. If you’re looking for a better meal might as well go to the milestones. The food, view, and atmosphere would be better and the prices would be the same or less. I hope the restaurant is able to take the constructive feedback and put more effort into their dishes (the side dishes, flavour, plating), update the restaurant and serving style, and bring back the restaurant to it’s former glory.

We were just out for a walk when we noticed this restaurant with a beautiful classic, old-style look. We weren’t even hungry, but after seeing their steak and lobster special, we couldn’t resist and decided to go in. And wow — it was absolutely amazing!

The interior, the atmosphere, the food, and the service were all outstanding. Everything felt elegant, cozy, and perfectly done. Visiting this restaurant became such a lovely and memorable part of our weekend in Victoria. Highly recommend!

The outside can be deceiving, but inside is a whole other world with top class service and delicious food! They had a steak and lobster special the night we went and have to tell you that it’s money well spent. They take a lot of pride in their service and quality of food. Felt like I was first class. They even went the extra mile and brought our baby some mashed potatoes. Thank you! I highly recommend Victoria Harbor House!

My wife and I are visiting Victoria for a 3 week getaway (from Winnipeg brrr). We decided to have dinner at the Victoria Harbour House Restaurant. We visited at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026. The restaurant is quite beautiful and formal looking, however, they have a sign that says, “We dress up so you don’t have to.” We were shown to a quiet table for two with a view of the harbour. We took advantage of the ‘Early Dinner Deal’ and ordered the Chicken Marsala for my wife and the New York steak for myself. The meal was fantastic, the ambience was stunning, and the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Bob, was extremely attentive and honestly, kind of a laugh riot! We had a wonderful time and would go back in a heartbeat.

We decided to have a Christmas dinner there for the first time. Unfortunately it’ll be our last time.
It’s Christmas Day and when we arrived 10 minutes early for our reservations, we were told to wait outside in the cold. I couldn’t help but notice the couple ahead of us in particular a very elderly gentleman with a cane. Also had to wait outside in the cold. And were talking only being 10 minutes early. We tapped on the window to see if we could come in to wait by the coat area just to warm up a little. We were told in rather an abrupt manner that the restaurant doesn’t open for another 10 minutes. However he did open the first set of doors into a very tight foyer if we wanted. It was just as cold.
Ok so onto the meal itself. As mentioned this was a Christmas dinner package.
* The very small portion of soup was lukewarm at best.
* The turkey dinner was somewhat warm. The mash potatoes were either processed potatoes, or put into the blender that the texture was like whip cream.
* The stuffing was tasteless.
* Portion size was medium size.
* Chocolate cake was about the best part of the meal.
It’s clear that they pre-prepared the dishes in bulk, and perhaps sitting under a heat lamp. I say this because of how quickly the food came out after choosing between the only two choices of turkey or seafood plate.
So right from start to finish it was hugely disappointing. Cold food, cold soup, and the portion size. We’d expected a little more of quality, taste, and portion size appropriate to the Christmas dinner plate that was the cost of just over $108.00
All this together, sorry to say but we’ll be going elsewhere.
