Arrived before reservation time, we passed the time at the bar with an old fashioned. Every employee was attentive and made us feel welcomed. We had a table in the upstairs dinning room with a water view. My husband had Vic’s Meatloaf and talked about it for the remainder of our vacation. He loved it and couldn’t believe how close it was to mine at home. I had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes which were over 90% crab meat. It was the perfect blend of flavors on this entree and one of the best crab cakes I have ever consumed. We shared the decadent chocolate mousse cake, which was a perfect ending to our experience at Vic’s. This was a fine dinning experience and even the manager stopped by to converse. Our best meal in Savannah!

Excellent dining experience! We started with the French onion soup – delicious! The braised short rib with mashed potatoes and green beans was outstanding. The serving was so generous that I ended up taking a large portion home. Of course we had to try a dessert so we ordered the chocolate mousse cake. It was good but not stellar. The service and atmosphere was fantastic with live music playing in the front room. Out table was further back and more quiet. I will definitely return when I’m back in town.

The food here was amazing. I got the filet with blue crab and my fiancee got the shrimp and grits. They had really good mocktails as well. The service was incredible. Our waiter was an angel. He was very accommodating.

PARKING HERE IS RIDICULOUSLY CRAZY.
SADLY, my family likes this place but they are from Savannah. They ubered there since parking is so absurd. But for me out of town out of state stopping in to surprise them. Well the surprise was on me. Yes the food is good but not GREAT.
It’s obvious they don’t read these reviews.
In addition after I realized they don’t really read the full reviews. I want to add. I thought the sauce for the crab came off putting. Sadly I asked for tartar sauce. Later while driving I had to make several road side stops.

Sat outside alone as it has been raining. Very accommodating staff. Friendly and happy to see me. I had the oysters on special as an appetizer. They were very good. I prefer horseradish, hot sauce and a cracker but they served them with a sweet type of salsa. Not my favorite part but did not deter the excellence of the oysters. A wedge salad also very good but included a section around the core of the lettuce I remove before serving. Preference perhaps. The meatloaf as an entree was excellent. Traditional southern meatloaf with a sweet glaze, served with house mashed potatoes and green beans. All excellent. A creme brulee for dessert also very high on my list. Overall great experience.

We came to this restaurant specifically because we struggled to find the traditional Southern Style food we were looking for within walking distance of the historic area in Savannah that would also be appropriate to go to with small children. A lot of restaurants in the area were mainly American or bar type food, Seafood oriented or a more upscale expensive atmosphere not really ideal for young children. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived but only had a short 10 minute wait which we were grateful for. The location, views, and atmosphere of the restaurant were all beautiful and clean. The hostess and wait staff were friendly and helpful throughout our experience. I gave this restaurant a 4 instead of 5 because we waited over 45 minutes for our food after we ordered which seemed extremely long considering we manly ordered fried chicken. Aside from that, the food was hot when it arrived and tasted delicious so I’d still recommend this place, just expect that if they are busy it may be a long wait on your food.

We decided on Vic’s as a last minute reservation for our anniversary. We made our reservation on Thursday night for a 5 pm Friday dinner and our options at that point were 5 pm, or after 8:45. We had no issues getting our reservation in and while seating was a little tricky (they don’t start seating until 5, we showed up at 4:55, and we were finally seated at 5:10), it was fast and efficient at the end.
The food was incredible. The serving staff was amazing. The vibe of the place was exactly what we wanted. We’d added “Anniversary” to our reservation and every single person we interacted with wished us happy anniversary and I have never had any restaurant pay attention to that note and it was just a little something extra.
The fried green tomatoes are to die for. The drinks were incredible. The biscuits were fluffy and the honey butter was perfect. I got the salmon and my husband got the short ribs and I don’t know how much we actually talked once the food came out because we were too busy eating.
10/10 experience, food, ambiance, staff, everything. I definitely look forward to coming back the next time we’re in Savannah.

It was absolutely fantastic! Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious! We had the blackened ahi tuna for appetizer. It tasted so refreshing and light. They provided mini biscuits with whipped butter, YUM! For our entree, we both had the braised short rib. It was so tender and hearty! Loved every bite. Perfect way to end it was with the poached peaches and cream with vanilla ice cream in a praline basket. DELICIOUS! Couldn’t rave more!

Vic’s on the River was outstanding! I started with the Riesling Pear Salad, which was light, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My lunch entrée was the seared scallops—perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed the Caesar salad and the Blackened Seafood Alfredo, and everything was fresh and tasty.
Our waiter, Rick, was wonderful—attentive, friendly, and thoughtful. He even brought me the bottle of delicious Riesling so I could photograph it for a future purchase. We loved everything about this place and can’t wait to return@
