Chicken parm is always tender and well seasoned and the Grandma’s Margarita with its thin, crisp crust, fresh garlic and basil and crushed plum tomatoes are excellent options. Cheesecakes and desserts on rotation. Try the cannoli cheesecake for something different.
Easy enough to walk in during the week. There’s a bar area and space for larger private parties. Parking is easy with designated lot within the shopping center. Nice outside dining for warmer evenings. Owner is usually onsite and very friendly and gracious.
We made a reservation through the website, but found when we arrived that it would not have been necessary on the Sunday evening we visited. We were seated and served very quickly, but did not feel rushed at all during the meal.
I took the recommendation of the server to try the seafood canneloni special (instead of the braised short ribs) and was very happy with my selection. The cream sauce was incredibly flavorful and the dish did not lack in cheesy goodness. The shrimp on top were perfectly seasoned and cooked and were a nice addition to the seafood inside the canneloni filling. I only wish I had saved some of the complimentary bread (served with rosemary olive oil for dipping) to get every last drop of the sauce off my plate.
We also ordered the fried calamari which was very light and crispy and the veal parmigiano, both of which we’d gladly eat again.
There were a number of visitors stopping by for takeout, so that’s an option for us to consider in the future also.
Most pizza served by restaurants nowadays are mediocre and half-hearted. It’s hard to find a good pizza that I didn’t feel like I wasted my money on. But here, you can tell that they actually care about the quality and presentation of the food they serve.
It’s nice to know that there are still some restaurants around here who care. Keep up the great work Vici!
For starters, our salad was supposed to have blood oranges on it, but it had mandarin oranges from a can. It was also supposed to have fried goat cheese, but it was definitely a different cheese. Substitutions are fine, but the customer should be notified before ordering the dish.
Onto the entrees, we ordered the carbonara and the bolognese, 21 dollars and 25 dollars respectively. The portions were substantial, but the quality of the food was well below par, and definitely something you could make at home with bottom shelf pasta and a jar of mid tier sauce from the grocery store. The food was bland and lacked a depth of flavor. The bolognese was reminiscent of chef boyardee. The carbonara was basically spaghetti noodles swimming in unseasoned cream with some onions and pancetta thrown in, adding salt and pepper didn’t even help.
Don’t waste your money, calories, or time. We spent close to 70 dollars (before tip) on these two entrees and a salad (no alcohol purchased).
There is a part of us that wishes we had this conversation from the staff, but then again other low star reviews didn’t get much traction in their critique. We thought it best to just add to the review and not return.
I would like to hope that it was just an off night for the kitchen, but based on similar reviews, would advise there are better options to go for a meal.
We came to Vici for the first time less than two weeks after returning from a long trip through Italy—3½ weeks of driving through small towns from Civate to Bologna, along the Adriatic coast, through Benevento, and the outskirts of Rome.
My husband grew up with grandparents who were native Italians and made their own pasta all the time. So you’d think Vici might not live up to our standards.
Wrong!
We loved it. So much so that we’re already back—within a week of our first visit!
It is Perfetto! Bellissima! Autentica!!
Owners Vita and Johnny are true Sicilians, and our servers, Gia and Alphonse, made us feel like we were right back in Italia
On our first visit, my husband had the house-made gnocchi with mushrooms, and I honestly think the chicken Marsala was the best I’ve ever had. (Still true 6 mos later!)
We also highly recommend the chicken parm and eggplant rollatini—both favorites! The chopped salad is killer, and the fresh focaccia is completely addictive.
Keep an eye on the specials. Johnny regularly features a dish that is his grandmother’s recipe; recently, the Braciole!
Vai! Mangia!
