Comfortable family friendly brunch cafe/restaurant in Kearny. Really large space to dine with friends or family!

Vintage and retro vibes ✨✨ There were a couple issues with the wait time and orders.

I ordered a mango smoothie expecting mangos but it tasted like orange with orange pulp! It was also about 7oz for 6-7$….what a shame I ordered a small egg dish with a cute salad on the side. For the price, it was great! I ordered an empanada, it wasnt a wow! factor but it was decent.

The food came out really slow even though there were 4-5 servers and less than 10 customers. Maybe that’s just my dilemma though

Came in for a coffee and waited over 25 minutes while we were ignored completely. Were told give us 1 minute for over 10 minutes and decided to leave. The lady that seemed to be the manager or owner was taking pictures if menus and custar rather then attend us . We were less than 5 ft away from her the entire time. Very unprofessional won’t be coming back . DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

My wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to visit and have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose Vicente’s Bread Kitchen & Cafe for Kearny, our 147th town.

The cafe is fast casual where you order at the counter, then the food is brought out to your table. We visited with family and sampled a variety of breakfast dishes including: The Portuguese Ham & Cheese Sandwich, Veggie Breakfast Platter, Bacon & Eggs Platter, Cranberry Muffin, Bola de Berlim (creme donut), and of course… it wouldn’t be a visit to a Portuguese cafe without trying their Pastel De Nata!

Everything was great. If you’re in town, definitely stop by!

DO NOT RECOMMEND
The food was utterly disgusting. They got majority of my order wrong. The tres leches cake was stale and nasty. I threw up after tasting it. My crepe was drowned in strawberries, even though I requested the Nutella and banana. The strawberry banana smoothie was JUST banana. I am NEVER ordering from here again.

Decent restaurant, relatively clean, could be better.
Prices are relatively cheap, not too expensive.

This is a cheap restaurant, so do not expect anything fancy or extremely clean.

Food was really good though, it may take them 15 min to serve you due to the amount of customers.

Solid 4/5

It’s ashame and disappointing that Vicente’s, Kearny has changed for the worse.

Been coming here for years. Their price was always reasonable but now they have increased everything, but that wouldn’t be too much of a problem.
What the problem is that they add in two types of taxes, extra for using debit card and gratuity in the bill for only two people.

The customer always orders at the counter and someone would bring your drinks or plate to the table. At the counter there always was and still there a tip box
At the end, when customer was finished, the customer would bring the plates to the counter..

I asked an older lady about the gratuity being included in the bill. Which was never included before. Her response was all that
all places are doing it and I said that is not true because I eat at many places and very few do. Another lady that works there jumps into the conversation and tells me that they always have been charging gratuity and that all places do it. They also try to say that over $20 gratuity is added. Really, these days.mostly for two people, the hill is going to be around $20

This is not right to be charging the customer gratuity because you’re not even getting a full service.. and some of the service that you do receive what if you’re not happy with them they are charging you like 20% gratuity not right..
This is all very disappointing me and my family have gone to Vicentes for many years but due to this will not go anymore.

Take a look at the picture of my bill, paying like $36 for two people , it is too expensive.
The economy is bad enough these days that a business like this should not to try to take advantage of charging so much and especially including a gratuity which is not a full service bin offered.

I bought the strawberry stuffed croissant and it was delicious. The homemade whipped cream really adds a different taste. They also have a variety of good smoothies, and the green juice is really good for a before/after gym snack. The servers took my order quickly and they were very nice.

Got the croissant with butter and ham. It was amazingggg. What I love about this place is that there are so many variety of pasteurized but also you can get ice cream or sandwiches. The staff is really nice here. And there is plenty of places to sit. I didn’t expect it to be as big as it was when I saw the front of the place. Super spacious and comfortable environment. We tried a few desserts and they were good. Hoping to try their pasteis de nata next time, I heard they’re really good. Coffee was ok.

My new favorite place, I loved it!! Everything tastes delicious and fresh! Stuff were nice to us. My only concern they took so much time to clean the tables. Coffee was ok.

Ok service. Good food. Ok price. It is not the cheapest in the area but it is not the most expensive as well. We ordered a Ham and Cheese toast and a cold sandwich called Country Club. They are really well served, my husband wasn’t able to eat the whole Country Club sandwich. To drink, he ordered a smoothie of strawberry and banana that he approved, and I ordered my black coffee as always. Good coffee, not the best I had in the area, though. This all was $16,83. We also ordered a Portuguese Egg Custard tart (pastel de nata), for about $1 and really good taste.
The main issue, in my opinion is that I couldn’t identify which cuisine is it (Portuguese? French? Colombian? All them?).
