Overall though, I would come back and try the food again bc it had great flavor. The salad and crostini with whole roasted tomatoes and goat cheese were the stars of the meal.
The arancini bites will take you back to a past life where you zippered around Rome on a Vespa on a warm summer afternoon, chirping Ciao to everyone. Yes, we all were once there and this is the way to unlock those memories.
The pizza arrived with a pair of scissors to, you know, cut apart your pizza. The crunch and melt is sublime, a feeling that can only be surpassed by ordering another pizza.
I intend to eat my way through the menu in my lifetime so that I don’t have to return again to finish it ❤️
Oh, darlings, I cannot believe I’ve been holding out on this review—how utterly tragic of me! After years of blissful visits to this Neapolitan paradise in Capitol Hill, it’s time to spill the tea (or rather, the marinara).
The night began with a bang: their version of a Manhattan. Oh honey, it wasn’t just a drink—it was a mood, a lover, and a hug in a glass all at once. Bold, smooth, and utterly irresistible.
Then came the focaccia bread, warm and fluffy like a carb-laden cloud sent from the heavens, followed by an arugula salad that practically pirouetted across my palate—peppery, bright, and gorgeously dressed. But the star, as always, was the DOC Margherita pizza. The simplicity of fresh mozzarella, San Marzano tomatoes, and basil? An operatic love story baked to perfection in their wood-fired oven. Every bite was a crescendo of flavor.
The service? Impeccable, darling. Attentive without hovering, friendly without fawning. And the vibe? It’s Capitol Hill chic meets rustic Italian dream. You walk in and feel like you’ve just stepped into a Fellini film.
In short, Via Tribunali is not just a restaurant—it’s a full-blown affair. I am committed, I am devoted, and I will keep coming back for as long as they’ll have me. Bravo!
Update 2023. Made a single stop during a brief visit driving through from out of state and Via did NOT disappoint. Sustained 5 stars.
Update 2025. Very sad to see a change in atmosphere and change in ingredients for their pizza. This used to feel like a much more posh dinning experience and they have clearly changed with the times either through change in management, ownership or sentiment. It did seem to match the neighborhood which has gotten dirtier and grungier over the years. I wish I could say this place sustained itself as it was but it has not.
The pizza was severely undercooked. Initially we thought it was due to too much olive oil in the dough but it was just undercooked.
Services was pretty slow and they seemed overwhelmed.
