I love old school Italian, the simplicity and fresh ingredients, it is all about the love that was put into the recipe from generation ago. You will find exactly that here.
It is a cozy joint with cramped spaces, on a Saturday night before the Chicago Marathon, there were many large tables and loud noises in the main dining room, we were seated in the side room which was much more quieter. There was some confusion with the tables service but after the initial chaos, we started to get our orders. The service was actually quite fast considering how busy they were.
We loved the Grilled Calamari Calabrese Style, I had very good grilled Calamari before, but this southern Italian variation puts in the additional veggies, garlic and the sauce was unbelievable. Although I didn’t specially taste the Calabrian chili, maybe it was part of the sauce.
The Peperone Ripieno is not something common that can be found in Italian joints anymore, the marinara sauce was one of the best that I have haf, and I loved the peas, everything was baked to perfection.
The pizza was good, we had the Rustica, sweet and savory with figs and prosciutto, but the crust was just ok for me. I had high hopes for the pizza crust because of the pizza bread that we got in the beginning, but it was a little dry for me, no chew nor crispy, so it is not exactly Roman style nor Neapolitan style.
The Seafood pasta was great, al dante noodles, the same awesome marinara sauce, plenty of seafood. The Carbonara was not what we have expected, I can’t say that I like it and I can’t say that I hate it, because there is, in my opinion, to much onion in it and it completely overwhelmed any of the creamy and cheesy flavor of the traditional dish. Also what happened to the yolk?
The tiramitsu was OK, standard. But the Affogato was just WOW. The expresso was the best part of it, I really wanted to find out where they got the beans because it is definitely not the traditional illy or Lavazza, it is just like the ones that I had in Italy and definitely the best that I have ever had in the US, by far.

Via Carducci knocks it out of the park every time! After loving this place for 15 years, we chose Via Carducci to host our dad’s surprise 75th. It was absolutely perfect. They made planning a breeze. No small feat when hosting 70 out of town guests. If you are considering a buyout, this is the place. The food is always delicious. The staff was so fun and acted with precision to create the absolute best Italian family experience we will be raving about forever. Thank you to the entire team! We couldn’t have done this without Maria, Giovanni, Nabil and Carlos!

Don’t pass up going to this unique Real Italian Local restaurant. The white crisp tablecloth set the stage as they deliver a basket of fresh baked bread assortment. Great wine list. The white table served as a canvas to deliver their fabulous Margarita Pizza and amazing fresh salad. Boris was an excellent server as I felt I was the only one in the restaurant. To top it off was a shot of a desert wine. FYI… look closely to see and meet the owner . Perfect to highlight my experience. You don’t have to go to his home city of Milan to experience Italy. The music, the fresh bread aroma that entices you when you walk in the door , and the cozy atmosphere sets the moods for a great lunch or dinner when you are in Chicago. Close Uber ride from downtown. Division is packed with local shops and fun things to do.

Very nice Italian restaurant with super friendly staff and delicious food! Their warm homemade focaccia is incredible, pasta is perfect aldente and they have Fanta choice of salad. Also there is quite big patio to enjoy nice weather. Would have given more than 5 stars if I could!

This place always has a crowd, it adds to the family dining experience. I wanted to share a recent interaction though. I was hitting the bars but was so hungry. Walked on over without realizing their kitchen was closing in 4 minutes and they still let me place a to-go order. Whilst waiting, a man who I think was the owner was about to sit down and have his own dinner. He walked on over with bread from his own table to share. The bartender brought some more bread over with oil and parm. (We also got waters) The food came out piping hot. They also gave us extra bread to go! So many restaurants would just turn you away that close to closing but they welcomed us warmly and gave us the same treatment a dine in customer would get. It was appreciated and the food hit the spot.

Came to eat here with 5 of my girlfriends last night. We were seated at 6:30 and proceeded to have a decent meal. Food was just fine. We closed our check out at 8:10 pm, but were still enjoying the last round of drinks we had just received. About 2 minutes (that’s being generous) after our bill was signed, our server came up to us and demanded he needed our table back for a party of 14 that they had waiting. Half of the party was already seated next to us, glaring at us while listening to the following conversations. He said “the host should have told you we needed you out by 8:30”. At any point during our meal they could have mentioned needing the table back but didn’t. The server then left and the owner or manager, who was extremely rude, came over very heated and said you have been here for 2 hours (the current time was 8:15) we need this table back and then started arguing with us when we stood up for ourselves saying it had not been 2 hours, no one told us we needed to be out my a certain time, and we still had 2 full glasses of wine. Overall a pretty terrible experience. Do not spend your money here. There are way better Italian restaurants in the city.

I know this place isn’t a hidden gem, but I still want to gatekeep it. It’s such a delicious, authentic restaurant with some great prices for Chicago! We got a sandwich and a seafood pasta, and I keep dreaming about this pasta. I WILL be back for more.

Came here 2 years ago with my family and been dreaming about their spaghetti and meatballs ever since!! Was in town today and HAD to stop by for it again. Took a 1 hour bus commute just to come:) Amazing food and the staff were so nice, I’ll definitely be back if I’m ever in town again. Thank you!

Some of the best Italian I’ve had, even outside of Chicago. The pizza bread to start off was phenomenal and everything else was great.
Dined out on a Sunday night on the sidewalk patio area – perfect in the summer.
