We were in town for a theatre performance at the Palace Theatre and were looking for some food within walking distance. We actually went somewhere else first that ended up being closed and decided to give this place a try since it was around the corner – and let me tell you what, I’m not mad that the other place wasn’t open!
I’ve never been to a Dominican restaurant, had no idea what to expect, and we were all pleasantly surprised! I personally had the Lemon Chicken with Yuca Fries, and it was DELICIOUS! Other items ordered were the Chicken sandwich w/reg fries, Buffalo wings, and the shrimp vodka pasta. I heard no complaints about the food.
We did arrive at an odd time so we had the whole place to ourselves. And the music did gradually get louder the longer we were there so by the end it was difficult to converse but not impossible. If I ever find myself in Waterbury again, I’d likely go back.

The esthetics of the restaurant were very pleasing and made it look bigger. The service was excellent and friendly. They know their menu. Drinks were good and strong. The food, the food was amazing. In Waterbury, a lot of spanish food has a tomato based taste but does not give an authentic cuisine feel. This food here was fresh, flavorful, and presented well. I felt like I was on an island. My friend eyes lit up with every bite. The dessert was moist and fresh. Not freezer burnt. Will definitely return.

8/27/23 My husband and I decided to eat at this restaurant downtown Waterbury. We went there after five pm. We usually purchase takeout from their sister restaurant on West Main Street which is very good but we decided to try something different. I had heard from my co-workers that the specials offered during the daytime were huge, My husband is big eater, so we decided to give it a try. When we went in and took a seat, one Waitress came to us immediately and greeted us and assisted us at our table. The place was VERY nicely decorated and the ambiance was great. I was very impressed and comfortable. We tried to order coffee as our first drink, but they do not offer regular coffee, so we both tried the espresso instead.(espresso is not usually something that I like) , but to my surprise it was delicious and we enjoyed it very much. I then, out of habit went to the restroom to wash my hands ( the bathroom was clean and newly decorated). Upon returning to our table, I noticed that the dark haired waitress was on her phone the whole time and didn’t look up from her phone. Anyways, back to the important stuff. We ordered the fried appetizer platter about $14.00, the seafood pasta dish $19.00, and the salmon $ 27.00.
It didn’t take too long to get our food, and when it did come, I knew immediately that my husband’s dish ( salmon) wasn’t going to be enough for him. It looked like an appetizer. The dishes were well presented and looked like they came out of a gourmet kitchen, but for the price, no bueno. On the menu, it indicated that my seafood pasta had , shrimp, calamari, mussels, and lobster in it. I received three shrimp, lots of mussels, a couple of calamari pieces and I did not see or taste any lobster . The pasta had no taste. ( under seasoned) and it came with a couple of slices of Italian buttered bread. I was very disappointed. My husband said his salmon and yellow rice ( about a cup) was tasty, but , the mixed vegetables were undercooked( I took them home and added seasoning red, yellow, orange peppers and spinach) and tasteless. It was not worth the $27.00. Also, our appetizer never came. While we were dining, I noticed that the two waitresses were obsessed with touching their hair every second uggh gross . When serving food, you should keep your hands out of your hair.
I don’t want any business to do poorly, especially an up and coming restaurant, but this will be our only and last visit to this place. Oh yeah, we left this restaurant and we placed a takeout order at another restaurant( reviews on that restaurant later) for my husband to get something to eat. We will stick to their sister restaurant on West Main Street. Double the food , flavor , and choices. Also don’t try to order lunch from here if you don’t speak Spanish. Co- worker kept getting hung up on because no one working the lunch schedule spoke any English and couldn’t communicate with him to take his order.

I’ve been here twice and both times I’ve had a great experience. The drinks, service, and food all great. I’ve only had food on Grand Street but I’ve been told that the other location buffet is also great. The menu has many options a bit on the pricy side but there were some reasonable options for lunch. The food came out quick. It took a min for the drinks especially for around 1pm with not too many customers. Great place to sit and conversation with friends and coworkers. Would recommend.

We stumbled into this spot, looking for a quick bite, and were pleasantly surprised. The music playing was fun and energizing, giving more of a bar vibe (there is bar seating as well) but with the primary seating of your typical restaurant. The menu offered an array of mofongo and an array of cooked meats and sides, even desserts. I ordered the chicharron and thoroughly enjoyed the crunchy bites and the melt in your mouth pieces of fat. The arroz con gandules was very tasty too. Didn’t leave a bite behind.

now!! Yeah! now yes. now go through an excellent bar and restaurant located in the city of waterbury, in which from the beginning I loved everything I ate from the beginning to the end.
I loved it from the beginning to the end, it was a unique experience! I recommend the passion fruit caipirinha I loved it ,
the food was super delicious. And above all, the cocktails are perfect for the occasion, the staff is very nice. The food in general is Dominican but it is combined with a number of countries. with a unique and perfect flavor .It was about time that downtown waterbury had authentic food with a super wide bar service in drinks and cocktails apart from having countless wines

This is a sister restaurant from the Original base and I must say seeing a family own restaurant expand and still have the reputation of GREAT WELL COOKED FOOD with GREAT PRICING for a family or a nice date grow/expand is what I enjoy. Quality OVER Quantity is more important and should be what MOST restaurants should take in. I highly refer and recommend anyone to enjoy REAL Authentic Spanish Food in this city and CHERISH IT! Trust me you will enjoy the taste of quality food and drinks at your local area.

I usually don’t write reviews unless I really enjoyed the food. I came here for lunch on my lunch break a few days ago. I decided to try the lunch special of the stew chicken. It was so delicious with REASONABLE pricing. I will be going back on my lunch break again. Thank you!
